Takaloo - De La Hoya?

Tak's gunning for him!!

I think Mr Takaloo has gotten above himself ability-wise after getting his British citizenship. I like Tak and everything but 'warm up fights' against top 10 fighters?

Talaloo ought to concentrate on the British title now he's got his citizenship. He beat Jim Rock for the WBU title, but would he beat Jamie Moore?

Good point. And Tak has also lost to Michael Jones, who Jamie Moore virtually outclassed en route to the British and Commonwealth light-middleweight titles.

:o Total waste of time...

Tak needs to concentrate on the domestic scene and clear that up before a title shot...

DLH....

Roman Karmazin deserves his shot at De La Hoya.

You know what, I don't reckon that DLH would fancy that too much, Karmazin is a class operator and a natural light middleweight to boot. It's easier for Mosley and DLH to fight eachother or other big names than risk their titles against the likes of Karmazin.

I'd expect Tak to beat (and probably KO) both Khaliq and Moore at the mo'.

Khaliq is justa big plank and Moore has been stopped by Dixon - so Tak should have enough for those two IMO.

Lugh have you seen much of Moore since he ran out of gas against Dixon 29 months ago? Sounds like you're in need of an update old son!

He's completed 12 rounds impressively to win the British title and defended against 2 very worthy challengers in Gary Logan and Andrew Facey (both KO wins).

He's definitely a serious rival to Takaloo now.

Yeah I still the Moore and Williams can beat Tak, there are plenty of fighters far more deserving of a shot at DLH than Tak. I think it must be a sign that he knows he'd probably lose to a Karmazin or Verno Phillips so why not make some money and fight the money fighter. It won't happen, not in a million years.

If Tak seriously habours world title aspirations then he should be looking at calling out Travis Simms or Daniel Santos again. I'm afraid there are many fighters (like Phillips, McKart, Candelo, Marquez, Karmarzin) who would beat Tak and they themselves are unlikely to win a world title.

As Bennie said Tak struggled in victories over Rock and Logan, he should focus in on Moore who has been impressive this year.

What's wrong with Tak wanting to fight the best? I mean, Howard Clarke and Adrian Stone took on Vargas and Mosley. Fair enough they got beaten comprehensively but they got their biggest ever payday and a dream opportunity to take on the best, which surely is what you would expect from any ambitious fighter, irrespective of his ability?

Whether or not he deserves a shot is a fair point but when has that ever mattered?

Tak would put up no worse a fight against DLH than Yori Boy Campas.

Plus, so what if Tak lost to Khaliq. That was in his 5th fight. He's come on since then, likewise Moore after Dixon. However, Moore wouldn't last five rounds with Tak, who can fight going backwards and is a good counterpuncher when he puts his mind to it. Moore would be eating right hands all night.

Tak's recent inactivity is nothing to do with him, but his broken hand and you'd have to ask his management team why he's been inactive since recovering from the injury and successfully testing out the hand in a warm-up fight. From what I've heard, some of the options put on Tak's table left him with no real time to get in tip-top shape, especially for one particular big fight they were trying to set up for early in 2004.

Not willing to say who it was against as a certain manager's team may read this.

Probably not but the ONLY reason the DLH v Campas tune-up sold was because Campas is a Mexican.

Takaloo will NEVER get a shot at De La Hoya because nobody outside of Britain would be interested in it. End of.

I have seen both fights you are talking about, like and rate Moore but would still fancy Takaloo.

Watched Facey, Logan AND Dixon fights and consider Takaloo to be a far bigger puncher than them.

Also I know that Moore put the Dixon defeat down to a lack of condition (it's always something - never good punches or a poor chin  )
but what do you think that Takaloo puts the Khaliq defeat down to?

Good interview with Tak in last weeks Observer Sports Monthly

The lack of conditioning shown by Takaloo in the Khaliq fight was as clear as that shown by Moore against Dixon. It's good to see that BOTH have overcome that problem and developed into solid 12-round fighters.

This is quite funny....

I do like Takaloo, we even share the same heritage but lets face facts Tak is a good domestic champ at the mo and the only one to survive the loss of talent we once had at 154...ie...Roberts, Lockett, Alexander, Williams, Rhodes..

I think Tak can win a European crown and possibly scrape a win against Santos If he improves his boxing skills but you are talking about Rotherham Utd gunning for Arsenal at Highbury and claiming their going to whip em... :D

Tak's early defeats to Khaliq and Jones were nothing to be sorry about. He got caught in the last round against Khaliq and wasn't in the best of shape (I know, I used to train him when he was amateur and just by looking at him get into the ring I felt he looked ill and he found he had an iron deficiency after that). He said he felt dizzy at the end of the first round and by the fourth said his daughter could have knocked him out.

Against Jones the ref went for his jabbing and moving and Tak was having a lot problems and shouldn't have taken the fight. Jones wouldn't last four rounds with him now and having watched Jones I still to this day can't believe he beat Takaloo.

Anyway, losing to Khaliq (former ABA champ) and Jones (amateur international) in your 5th or sixth fight is no disgrace if you ask me and I think he rebounded very well after that. I mean, Moore was cruising along and the first fighter who punched back knocked him out. He was inexperienced and has shown character to come back.

And when you look at the Santos fight, Tak jumped from fighting the likes of Gary Logan to a former Olympic silver medallist. Chinny or not, Santos is very effective and a skilful, powerful (I mean, he wiped the floor with Neil Sinclair after he got knocked down), awkward southpaw. Santos himselftook on board what happened after losing to Jofi Kantuah by knockout and remained unbeaten ever since, picking up two WBO world titles in the process. True sign of a good fighter is one who can learn from his defeats and come back.

LOL!!!

And Tak knows it's unlikely too but he's got to promote himself somehow and hey, at least he's got a dream!

I mean, as a lifelong fight fan, I dream of being on the phone and saying: "They want me to fight Leonard at Caesars Palace? Okay!"

Thing is, although it's a long shot, the fight could happen. He'd be a massive underdog but so what, he'd be fighting one of the best and that's what it should be all about.

I'll find out but I think he's down to fight on January 24th. Not sure if that's definite but he mentioned it last time we spoke. He's in good form though, training hard and wants to make up the ground he lost after breaking his hand last year. I'll let you know as soon as I talk to him again.
