I wish Robin all the best for the future. Reid can hold his head in that he won a bronze medal in 1992 & went to become WBC champ. Both were very high achievements.

I'm glad his knows his time is up in the sport will not continue beyond neccessary. Good luck to Robin.

here here, good luck reaperman, he achieved the biggest prize in sport and also won an olympic medal, not bad for a runcorn lad !!

Hes probably come the closest to removing Joes O as well (Eubank may disagree).

He did go on a little too long, but not terribly so. The Lacy fight should have been the end, and it was a shame he folded so easily against Froch, but I suppose it was fair enough he wanted a British title (he wasn't kidding himself about the world anymore).

In conclusion, a very solid career and a fighter who was good for the sport.

All the best to Robin in his retirement. It's a shame he was jobbed against Ottke.

I think Reid was a very good fighter but he could be frustrating at times, showing less than he seemed capable of. Can't knock his achievements though.

Was in there with all the best of his era so probably knows where they all stand more than anyone else. But for being cheeted against Ottke he could have been a 2 time world champion

Reid was a classy counter-puncher when at the top of his game but I never felt that he lived and breathed boxing, hence some of his more laboured efforts.
He does have the lustre of nearly edging out Calzaghe, which looks all the more favorable considering what Joe has susequently acheived.

His late losses can be put down to fatigue. It must also be remembered that he was given woefully inadaquate training facilities when he fought Lacy, though I'm not sure how much difference it would have made to the outcome if that hadn't been the case.
At Reid's best though, I think he was much better than Jeff Lacy

As for Froch well to be fair, he would have found Froch a handful at any stage of his career, though not nessacarily unbeatable.

Good news this really, as Reid looked more shot than Bonny and Clyde in his last few fights.

Fair play to him for making the right move. He was someone I always liked to watch (in the boxing ring!) and I wish him all the best.
