Sad to read that Bowe comeback is confirmed

Post by bennie »

Former world heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe will indeed be back in the ring in 2004. In a press release on Wednesday, his new management team of Jimmie Lawson and Jimmy Adams, Split Decision Entertainment, announced that they are planning Bowe's comeback fight for June 12 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville.
"Jimmy Adams and I visited Bowe in jail last weekend," said Lawson, "and he is really looking good and his weight is down. Bowe wanted us to put things together in concrete and that's what we are doing.
"We are working with Dan Kelly and the commission and we do have our first opponent in tact. I think Bowe with make a big difference in 2004 in the heavyweight division. Bowe really wants (current world champion Lennox) Lewis to hang around so he can retire him."
Bowe was quoted in the press release as saying, "I will show everybody that I still have it and want it. I am not doing it for the money because I am one of the fighters who held on to his money. I am doing it because I have the desire and I want to do it for me and my fans. I will be heavyweight champion of the world again. I am happy with Lawson and Adams; it really feels good to have a team that is on your side. We will make a difference in the heavyweight division. I want to beat Lewis down like a baby. I will be shocked if he stays around to fight me but I hope he does."

Yes indeed. You can't get much lower than visiting a guy in jail to arrange a fight for him.

Eddie Futch will be turning in his grave. It's amazing that these guys fight so hard to make it and from a very tough upbringing only to lose it when the world's at their feet. Riddick's a troubled individual. Anyone who licences him should be ashamed of themselves, same for anyone who trains/manages him.

Man, you guys are all too down on Big Daddy

The guy needed a rest, that's all.

His speech is as clear as crystal, Don't believe all this doom-sayer's about him being a physical and menal wreck, the guy look's in superb condition and has reached an inner peace.

His performance against Golota was more to do with boredom than anything else.

Remember he only lost once and i thought he got robbed in that decision, especially because of the whole fan-man incident.

Lewis will be SHITTING HIMSELF. Remember, it was LEWIS that ran away from Bowe rather than the supposed version of Bowe running from Lewis. Just read Frank Maloneys book to clarify this!

BOWE WINS KO 10 LENNOX LEWIS

i've always liked riddick bowe, i'm a little bit surprised at the reaction to him on this thread. i know he blatantly avoided lewis, but he was a very good fighter and always showed a lot of heart in the ring.

respect where respect is due its a shame there isn't a young heavyweight as good as riddick bowe coming thru right now

Hey Hitman Hatton

Bowe didn't blatantly avoid Lewis you FOOL, it was the other way ROUND!

Get your facts Right!

It was more about money and after Bowe beat Holyfield, he decided to fight holyfield in a rematch because he was gonna get far more money than a fight with Lewis.

Although, he signed to fight Lewis after the Holyfield rematch but Lewis was so SCARED of Bowe, he didn't sign it!

SO STOPPING SPREADING LIES about BIG DADDY!

Youre right, Lewis avoided Bowe like the plague.

In his prime, Bowe would have kicked Lewis' ass.

Bowe was a much better fighter than Lewis

Nasty, have a bloody day off will ya.

One thing that always annoys me is the talk of Bowe's "slurred" speech after the second Golota fight. I mean, it wasn't that bad. He just sounded like a very exhausted fighter who'd somehow escaped with a win in a savage contest where he hadn't turned up in too good shape. More recent reports suggest Bowe's speech has miraculously gone back to normal. Besides, I don't remember Riddick coming across as the sharpest tool in the box even at the start of his career.

Not saying I want to see Bowe in the ring again because I don't. How on earth is he going to become properly dedicated to the sport again?

Riddick Bowe is a very articulate guy.

Which is more than can be said about Lewis who tries to use big words to look intelligent, but puts them in the wrong context and looks a complete and utter fool.

I would LOVE IT if Bowe came back and whupped Lewis.

I WOULD LOVE IT.

In todays pathetic heavyweight scene, i would not be shocked if bowe did manage to amount to something.

Quite frankly, if he wants to come back, and his all there upstairs, good luck to the man.

I think a lot of people need to get off the moral highground when talking about the fact he is in prison, afterall, how many people payed to see mike tyson's last fight, and hes a convicted rapeist.

Do prisoners get internet access?

If so I'm 100% certain that riddick Bowe is the man himself. Nasty is fornicating hillarious as a poster. I'm never sure if I should take him seriously. One minute Danny Williams is his favourite British fighter then next minute you know hes loving Audley. Anyone who thinks Mesi is the future of heavyweight boxing has to be on something or otherwise having a laugh.

I'd love to know his source on Lewis being scared of fighting Bowe. Then again peoples hate for Lewis these days ensures that they come up with any old bollocks. At the end of the day, Nasty is always good for a laugh and even surprises us now again with a decent post.

Hey Costa

Riddock Bowe signed to fight Lewis, its a FACT!

Read Frank Maloney's book NO BALONEY.

Before you say that Maloney was a bitter man, remember his book went through very sharp analysis by Lewis's lawyers to check that everything in it was correct! After all, Maloney was Lewis's manager so he knows the facts better than anyone!

Basically, BIG DADDY chose Holyfield first because of the money was far bigger and the TV paymasters wanted Holyfield rather than Lewis who was unknown in America at the time.

After Bowe lost to Holyfield, his manager Rock Newman signed for the Lewis fight for the WBC BELT(i think) but Lewis wouldn't sign because he gave the excuse that he was worth far more money than he was getting even though he was unknown in America at the time where Big Daddy was a big star and the main draw.

Lewis could have had the Bowe fight anytime after this right up to Bowe's retirement but mysteriously chose not to take the fight! If Lewis wanted to take this fight so badly, why didn't he drop his ridiculus pay demands for the Bowe fight?

As for your attack on Baby joe, well time will tell If you are right or wrong. As of this moment joe is unbeaten and untill this changes why should I change my opinion!

Lewis took on Golota, who'd battered Big Daddy twice, and knocked him out in a round.
That should tell you how scared Lewis was of Riddick Bowe.

Riddick dumped his belt rather than face Lewis, so please don't tell me Lewis was shaking in his boots.

Whatever his faults you might list, LL never ducked anyone.

Bowe was great in his very short prime, but it's bad news to see him coming back now.

No way back I'm afraid.

Those guys who are going to 'manage' Bowe are no better than the scumbags that helped Jerry Quarry have his comeback fights in the 80s.... the one's that pushed him over the edge abd resulted in him dying at just 51.... a wreck.
Be real guys Bowe is injured, those saying that his speech is ok now should know that the brain can recover and regenerate from injury in some cases.... the fact that Riddick hasn't been hit in 7 years may well have resulted in some recoverey ....but put him in the ring again and he could be facing the same fate as Quarry.

nasty & knockout artist are both neck and neck for the award of;

"Most bollocks ever stated on a single thread".

The bookies have stopped taking money on those two.
