He must have given away at least 200lbs to thunder lips in their epic clash...

Stallone's a small man. I'd say he must've only weighed about 165ish in real life all jacked up.

I think Stallone was actually Super Middleweight in real life, least during those years. I think Rocky Balboa and Cop Land were the only films I ever seen of him where he probably was 200 or more in weight.

As far as the comment (which I know was a joke to begin with and not to be taken seriously) that Duran did so well against a man of Stallone's size when he was a Welterweight; goes back to my old argument that I had with Decagon, that even a Straw Weight could beat a Heavweight, if matched perfectly.

Stallone's a good actor, but in shape or not, probably a terrible boxer. Maybe the scene was rehearsed as it followed with how poorly Rocky was doing because he felt guilty cus Adrian didn't want him to fight any more...but scripted or not, it didn't seem like Duran was pulling any punches.

I believe Stallone was about 185 when Rocky II was filmed, so that would probably give him about 30 lbs. on Duran since Duran tended to be a bit higher than fighting weight (like most fighters).

Duran was just clowning.
He was pullin those shots, of course if he wanted , hed chase Rocky outta the ring.
I thought I read somewhere that Earnie Shavers tried out for a spot in one of the Rocky flicks but was given his walking papers after hittin Stallone a little too hard in one of there scenes/sparring sessions.
Anyone remember this?

I would go for Balboa by VERY VERY VERY dramatic knockout, like Duran dropping like 10 times, and Balboa dropping 7 times.

Duran's definately pulling his shots look at 0:10 to 0:12 If Duran digged in and even used an ounce of his speed he'd behead Stallone.

Earnie tried out for the part of Clubber Lang, and from what I remember, Stallone insisted on getting hit relatively hard, so Shavers hit him about 25% and Stallone hit the canvas and threw up all over the floor.

Stallone always wanted to make it look real which wasnt always a good thing. He got KOed by Tarver when they were filming and he also ended up with a swollen heart after getting drilled in the chest by Dolph Lundgren.

Dolph Lundgren

Dolph Lundgren was the European Karate champion wasn't he? I do recall that he was also an official or coach during one of the Olympics for his native country in Karate. Never heard about Stallone getting a swollen heart from a punch from Lundgren, though, so that's a first in my book.

As far as Tarver actually knocking Stallone out, am not sure about that, but I do know that Stallone said the second knockdown in the 'fight' between Balboa and Dixon was an actual knockdown, and that both he and Tarver did get carried away sometimes.

During the 90's Lundgren worked the doors as a bouncer in King's Cross (A notoriously bad part of Sydney) & by all accounts built up a pretty impressive reputation for a hot head & heavy hands. I can't remember which club it was in the Cross, perhaps Dragonfly, that he worked regularly. Until now-amateur boxer Dravko Micevic (sp?) knocked out & killed a famous Australian sports star in 2004, the security industry in Oz was a free-reign business - bouncers were living up to their (woefully misunderstood) rep as genuine bad guys & thugs, knocking people out all over the place. Paybacks were rife until the industry was cleaned up following Micevic's misadventure.

I would not be surprised if Lundgren hurt Stallone. He would not be the only participant in a Rocky film to have done so as I understand it.

If I recall correctly, Carl Weathers broke Stallone's nose in the film, and I think both men either bruised or broke eachother's ribs as well...

I am not sure if Mr. T hurt Stallone, but suppsedly Stallone broke his patella while wrestling with Thunderlips (Hogan) and had spit up blood after taking a powerslam.

Has anyone here seen Dolph fight Oleg Tacktarov (a MMA fighter and actor) in a charity boxing match in Russia earlier this year. Its on YouTube.

Its an interesting watch.

Duran is just cool. Id love to get footage of the young Duran training.

Its funny you should mentiuin Dolph and his 'bouncing' in Sydney. A MMA fighter guy from NSW was telling me that one time he was out when he was younger he heard some drunk guys yelling. "Ivan Drago just beat the F%$K out of some dude" and surely enough there was Dolph smacking away at two guys.

I just couldn't help thinking to myself how interestingly cool that would have been to see.
