Frank Bruno in the 21st century
I know a few of you like fantasy match ups as well as having a soft spot for Big Frank.

POssibly of course Bruno might catch him, but he is most likely too slow and clumsy.Dirk Kelly wrote:Why not? I think Bruno would catch Wlad and when he did it would be lights out. Byrd would jab and move but eventually Bruno would catch and hurt him.E wrote:errr I don't think so....esp not WLad.Dirk Kelly wrote:Great article. Would pick Bruno to beat Wlad and Byrd.
Wlad would outbox him, then stop an exhausted FRank late

if Sam peter could deck Vlad thrice then Bruno sure as hell could.E wrote:POssibly of course Bruno might catch him, but he is most likely too slow and clumsy.Dirk Kelly wrote:Why not? Difference being is Frank hit him with his right Vlad aint getting up.
Since when did Vlad beocme the 2nd coming ?
Come on guys he is the best of a bad bunch here, bruno hung tough with Lewis as long as Vitali did, and similalry was just ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage, theres no way Vald pastes a prime Bruno (and Im a was a lewis fan never Bruno but come on.)
similar to big frank really, but frank did not used to hit the floor, he would just stand there semi conscious with arms by his sides....knockout wrote:Bruno who was beating Lennox early in Cardiff would put Wlad to sleep.
Once he has tasted a few Bruno jabs he would lose confidence, panic and get exhausted.
Anyone who has been able to land a half decent shot on Wlad as either beaten him or had him on the deck.
jumbo cummings springs to mind !!!

Bruno developed along way past the Jumbo Cummings fight.
Guy who mixed up with Lewis and McCall would splatter Wlad. People eat up HBOs spiel and watch him prod and jab guys like Brock and Brewster and believe all the nonsense about this 'new fighter'.
Doubt Wlad would keep getting up like he did against the fat 38 yr old part time boxer/golfer guy who also chinned him.

YEs of course...I know boxing does not often work like this; but Bruno's best wins were against crackhead journeyman (good chin agreed) WBC champ Oliver MCCAll (and he almost got stopped) ermmm........ a uninspired untrained Gerrie Coetzee (ex WBA) and er er er er a well past it, pretty average Pierre Coetzer.rhino222 wrote:similar to big frank really, but frank did not used to hit the floor, he would just stand there semi conscious with arms by his sides....knockout wrote:Bruno who was beating Lennox early in Cardiff would put Wlad to sleep.

Wlad's best wins are against: Chris Byrd ex-IBF (two wins), Lamon BRewster (ex-wbo), Sam PEter (current WBA interim), Ray Mercer (ex-WBO, never stopped before inc by Lewis and Holy), and a host of respectable contenders - Shufford, Bostice, BArrett, Botha, Jefferson, McLIne, Brock.....
Both have been chinned but Bruno's CV isn't even close.

I love how you dismiss Brunos victims but make no mention of Mercers 42 years of age and make it sound like he just came out of the Lewis fight!
Dismissing McCall as a crack head journeyman but listing a group of confirmed journeymen as Wlads superior wins. Absolutely laughably one-sided and clearly biased post.

'Cloud judgement'? This from a guy calling McCall a journeyman, Coetzee 'uninspired & untrained' (wtf?) and Coetzer 'past it' (3 entire months after his world title eliminator v Bowe)
Yet Brewster (beaten by Etienne & Shufford), Bostice, Barrett, Jefferson and Brock et al are wheeled out as 'superior wins'? eh??? If THESE GUYS are yours big wins then shit the bed we have to throw back Carl The Truth Williams, Quick Tillis, Jose Ribalta, Jesse Ferguson, Phil Brown, Joe Bugner, Jumbo Cummings et al, most of whom have CVs that shat all over the likes of Derek Jefferson and his motely crew.
I love your line about Wlads win over Mercer, who was "never stopped before inc by Lewis and Holy".... Thats like saying 'holy crap!! Larry Holmes stopped Muhammad Ali!! He must punch harder than Foreman or Shavers!!'
Go back to Eastside!!!

Maybe you can't remember Coetzee admitting he just came over for the holiday with his wife and kids.overhand_right wrote:'Cloud judgement'? And you seem to forget that Brewster, Bostice, Barrett, Jefferson and Brock et al were in their prime.
BEsides these ar enot his best wins, just good wins.
BEst victims for Wlad were Peter, BYrd (better than ANy Bruno victims) and fought a far higher level of top ten opposition.
Bruno was big, with a good punch, but chinny and lacking stamina with very average boxing skills.
Wlad has superb boxing skills, big power, handspeed. Yes he's also chinny, but overall is by far the superior fighter.
