World Champions by the end of 2004?

Post by stujones »

The start of 2004 will be great for British boxing with two world title rematch already in the pipeline.

Which British fighter do you think will be a world champion by the end of 2004 (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO). Are there any fighters you can see winning a big title, but losing it by the end of the year - can you see any of the current champions (Lewis, Calzaghe, Nelson and Harrison) losing their belt or retireing by the end of the year. Do you think Fighters such as Harrison and Calzaghe (who are big at their weight) obtain a different world title by the end of the year.

Lets us know what you think will happen, with regards to World champions and the UK fighters in 2004.

It seems odd that when Barry Jones won his belt, Paul Dempsey claimed that Britain had 9 world champions, and I don't think he included the likes of the IBO and WBU champions back then. It seems odd that the only world champion under the age of 30 is Harrison.

Brodie will beat Chi but then lose to Pac-man
Woods will beat Johnson but lose to Tarver
So those don't count!

Maybe Hatton will become a ABC Champion aswell as:

Calzaghe will hold on to his WBO crown, may fight Ottke or Branco aswell
Harrison wil lalso hold his WBO crown, my look elsewhere, maybe up a weight
Eastman he is a Mandatory for ABC Ttle, Hopkins doesn't want to fight him, I'd expect Eastman to win any belt Hop vacates
Maccarinelli can see him facing and toppling Nelson
Cook, if managed properly should progress and get a shot soon

can't c a mayweather fight happening what with the HBO/showtime obstacle  if it does expect hatton to beat mayweather if castillo gave mayweather problems imagine what ricky will do.

hatton beats every1 out there for me apart from miguel cotto but he's with HBO so that isn't going to matter :D

assuming he carries the weight ok, i can see mayweather teaching hatton a painful boxing lesson.

i think hatton has a good chance against anyone currently at light welter.
