Guess who Gatti fights if he wins the WBC title...

Post by bennie »

No, not Ricky Hatton. The WBC have ranked Leonard Dorin of Montreal at number four in their light-welterweight rankings - despite the Romanian-born boxer having yet to fight at the weight.
Dorin surrendered the WBA lightweight title when he failed to make the weight for a mandatory defence in October against Miguel Callist of Panama.
Top-ranked Gianluca Branco of Italy will fight Arturo Gatti of Montreal for the vacant WBC light-welterweight title in Atlantic City on January 24. Dorin's high ranking lends credence to speculation that Gatti, if he wins the title, will defend against Dorin in an all-Montreal affair in the city in June. HBO want the fight.

That will be a good fight, Dorrin edged the Sparaforda battle for me. It seemed that FW was more interested (well, thats what he mentioned on Sky) in a Shamba Mitchell fight, remembering he could be world champion next year - he was giving Tszyu a tough fight before getting injured.

Gatti deserves a huge fight, and that one will be huge in his country.

I always thought both Sparaforda and Dorrin were in some kind of serious trouble and their careers were on hold.

Dorin was criticised for failing to make the weight for a mandatory defence of his WBA lightweight title in October. He was a pound over, but couldn't shift it safely and the entire show was called off. His opponent fainted at a press conference when told of the news. But the fact Dorin's since moved up to 10 stone shows he was on the level.
Spadafora is awaiting trial for shooting his girlfriend after she damaged the tyres of his truck whilst driving it. He's in big trouble.

Yes, the word is that the heavy drinking free living Spadafora will be lucky to ever fight again. Goodbye to another decent hometown fighter....or am i being too harsh?

Christ, I've heard it all now, shooting your bird for damaging the wheels on your truck!! James Brown eat your heart out.

Warren has burnt his bridges with the WBC, and that's why I am sure that Hatton will not get a shot at the WBC title unless there is some sort of reconciliation.

Blanco could well upset the Gatti plans. Dorin looked short even at 135, but he's a very tough fighter so he might pull a few suprises - not much of a punch on him though...

Spaddy is up shit creek - allegedly shooting your girlfriend?!! That will be some serious time he could be facing.
Not sure he's made enough cash to hire OJ's Dream Team, but that's who he needs 8)

Gatti vs Dorrin will be a great fight.... Dorrin is tough, has a comeforward style and will probably go toe to toe with Gatti.
Lets hope Gatti gets past Blanco first.... on recent form he should do, but with Arturo you never know...
