Fcuking Yanks"Calzaghe is cute, but he ain't going to be cute after this facelift," Hopkins told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"If he steps out of his backyard, he will be handed his first defeat. I will beat Joe Calzaghe easily."
I love to fight southpaws. I've had 11 wins and no defeats with eight knockouts against southpaws. He's going to run into a bad doctor.
"When I fight Joe Calzaghe, I'm fighting a champion. When Joe Calzaghe fights Bernard Hopkins, he's fighting a legend.
"If Calzaghe and allegedly are serious, they can cross the Red Sea and come over to the United States, because we're the best in everything we do.
"Joe Calzaghe never fought outside the UK [he has, twice], he never fought in America. I've fought in Paris, I fought in Quito, Ecuador.
"Let's see how he fights when he hasn't got 40-50,000 of his own fans behind him. To me, a great champion can go anywhere in the world, out of his comfort zone and still deliver.
"I'm not convinced [by Calzaghe], America is not convinced. Let him leave his home town and try to invade the United States and beat Bernard Hopkins, a great champion, a legend."
"I've never ducked anyone. Bernard Hopkins has beaten people that nobody else wanted to fight - Winky Wright, Antonio Tarver. I knocked out Felix Trinidad easily, Oscar de la Hoya with a body shot, I had world title 20 defences.
"If it happens it happens, if it don't it don't. He mentioned my name after the fight, I didn't mention his.
"I was sat at home in my rocking chair, sipping a cup of tea, with my teeth in a glass, minding my own business.
"I'd get more attention and more out of it if I waited to fight the winner of Roy Jones-Felix Trinidad [due to take place on 19 January]."

You'd think Nard was Philias (sp) Fog the way hes going on.chinny wrote:It is a great line but as usual with Bernard he's twisting the truth. He was the one calling JC out after the Winky fight!
The guy he fought in France hadn't won in eight fights and he was floored twice and only scraped a draw in Equador.

You do have to admire Hopkins balls.
Last Saturday MSG was packed with Puerto Ricans hating BH for what he did to Tito and he was really playing the panto villan, giving it all the cut throat gestures and winding up the crowd.
Incidently I was sat next to some very knowledgable New York fans and they all knew and respected Calzaghe, giving BH no chance if they were to fight.

There was a quote on the BBC site saying he wasn't really up for it (after Kessler) - really respectful to Joe and says stuff like "I'm going up to 43, do I really need to be messing with a hungry fighter".... That was the most onimous quote.
I do like him talking, he is unsulting - but quite funny. He does do it a bit tongue in cheek - the free facelift thing.

1 quote from Golden Boy claims Calazage has been offered $17m (approx £8m) for the fight and a $2m payment for allegedly into the bargain. Not sure about the truth of that, I can't see it making huge PPV numbers here or there.
The line '"If it happens it happens, if it don't it don't. He mentioned my name after the fight, I didn't mention his.
"I was sat at home in my rocking chair, sipping a cup of tea, with my teeth in a glass, minding my own business', from BHOPS was pretty funny, I was getting a bit anoyed with his '60-40' talk and the trash talking but I think hes trying to build up the fight

If those figures are true, I think they'd be crazy to turn it down. Like you say, though, not sure how they'd generate the revenue to pay that sort of money. If that's in line with a 60-40 split in BHop's favour, he'd be on about $25m.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:1 quote from Golden Boy claims Calazage has been offered $17m (approx £8m) for the fight and a $2m payment for allegedly allegedly into the bargain. Hopkins' fights always remind me of an episode of Friends, only with bigger tits...Terry D wrote:You have to admire his front. Prior to every fight he tells us that we better put the kids to bed, fortify ourselves and prepare for him to give out a vicious beating only for him to reenact the group hug craze of the mid-1990's.
Calzaghe will be cut and bruised in this fight but it will be from excessive use of the head by Hopkins.
