Ike's parole hearing
Ike's parole hearing
Some of these posts got me thinking about ike again. I saw where his parole hearing was scheduled for August 07. Do any of you know how that turned out? I have not been able to find anything online.
I believe he's out Dec 1.

I'm thinking RRD means Revised Release Date. Can't 100% verify that though.

Why bother losing weight? In today’s world bigger is always supposed to be better. Especially in the HW division.Spreadking wrote: …all he does is have to lose 35 pounds and get in shape.
that's not much for a heavy of his mass.
Excellent point!Spreadking wrote:why not give him another chance...it's not like he killed dogs or anything.

That was the last straw. Before that he kidnapped his then stripper girlfriend's kid, stole the car, led the police on a car chase, and flipped it. I believe the kid's handicapped now as a result. He'd be a better dude if he was just fighting dogs.Tunney wrote:What exactly did Ike do to go to prison? I read he kidnapped and repeatedly raped a girl.

Ike is a lunatic piece of shit. I remember a few years back when he was up for parole and some idiot teenage boxing fans were getting hyped about his "return to HW boxing" and claiming that he'd done his time for society and paid enough dues blah blah . . .ESPN even did an interview with him in jail, in that interview he sounded completely deranged. He injured a little kid for life. He should not be a member of this society. Have fun in Nigeria!

He's been gone for too many years, been too friggin far out of shape with probably no more than an hour's excercise every day, and even if he does apply for a license, he will still have to under-go numerous tests to see if his mental state has even improved...
Ike Ibeabuchi has been gone for way too long, and if he comes back, he might score a win or two, but will get knocked on his ass by someone with less wear and tear and ring rust than himself.
You might as well stick a fork in him now, and he best not come back, because the ONLY thing, legacy (if you can even call it that) is the big WHAT IF, had he not went crazy and raped someone. If he comes back, it'll all be shown he was a joke.
That or the nay sayers will make excuses for him, just to not feel less guilty and stupid that their come back aspirations for him went wrong, claiming that had he stayed in the game he would have been the undisputed champion, knocked out Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe and the like.
Sorry to say but NO ONE knows if that would have ever happened. There's alot of heavyweights I can name off the bat who had 20-30 some fights and went undefeated but never made it big, why does Ibeabuchi stand out? Cus he beat Byrd, who everybody hates and who bores people stiff? David Tua? He just turned out to be a chickenshit when he fought Lennox Lewis and never did live up to his own hype and press...maybe he should call Thunderbox again and get a quick pay day.
He had potential, but so does alot of fighters. Ibeabuchi is just that. But he doesnt have it anymore, so I wish people would get off the nut job's band wagon and forget about it.

The current status of a boxer of the past....would likely be filed here. Not exactly a rule, more like a guideline.Novelty goat wrote:Strange. When I posted a topic about Ike and his current status, it got quickly deleted/moved out of current scene.
How many different sets of rules are there for this board?
Homicide,
I liked your post until you said Tua turned out to be chickenshit against Lewis. That was when i realised you know nothing. Tua ate right hands from Lewis all night and smiled straight back at him when he landed. No chickenshit does that, yes he lost the fight, yes he perhaps could have done more but to call Tua chickenshit shows your limited knowledge my friend!

He froze, simple as. He may well have been tough, but in terms of his potential at the top level, the sentiment, if not the precise wording of Homicide's post is reasonable.N2 Shape wrote:Homicide,

He may have ate hands all night, and showed how tough he was, but he surely didn't mix it up now did he. Everytime Lewis threw a lil nothin jab, Tua jumped back six feet. He didn't utilize his power, he didn't force himself on Lewis when we all know Lewis wasn't the best on defense as he carried his hand low. Had he, I am sure he probably could have won, but he was afraid and let his emotions over take him.
Way I see it, if Tyson (who's stated as 5'11" but has to be closer to 5'8") who was beyond is prime was able to sneak in a bomb on Lewis in the first and stunned him...a prime Tua, had he taken initative, would have knocked Lewis to the canvas.
But he didn't. He was a scared fighter, and he fought a scared fight. Plain and simple. All those smiles he done was a show, if Lewis didn't truly phase him, he would have kept on coming and would have mixed it up.

Anyone with a jab and some punching power can put Tua into a shell. Look at how a limited fighter like Rahman was able to completely negate Tua in two fights.HomicideHenry wrote:He may have ate hands all night, and showed how tough he was, but he surely didn't mix it up now did he.
