Pretty much how I feel. Don't know why i should be villified for such an opinion.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:I'm a big PBF fan so I will be cheering for him. Hattons never really appealed to me, not a fan of his fighting style and something about him rubs me the wrong way. I don't dislike Hatton like some on here and I do think hes an elite level fighter. Just not my cup of tea
I never really let nationalism get in the way of my appreciation of sporting greats. I was a fan of Diego Maradona in 1990 (too young to appreciate him in 1986), I was supporting Tyson against Lewis.
Any Brits rooting for Floyd?
Hatton was very effective against Castillo too, for the few rounds that it lasted. He can beat Mayweather aslong as he gets those tactics perfected and his stamina improved on the Collazo/Urango fights.rhino222 wrote:i agree with not liking rickys style since he stepped up in class, it was there in glimpses v urango (first 3 rounds maybe) but not much of it in his last 4 fights really....
Any Brit rooting for Mayweather should be tried for treason!
So you are telling me that if Hatton beat PBF that he wouldntmrbassie wrote:Because he's by far the superior boxerrasputin wrote:mrbassie wrote:I'm rooting for Mayweather; I prefer to watch skillful boxers over swarmer/mauler types. Don't give a eff about their personalities, I'd much rather go for a pint with Hatton but I don't watch boxing as if it were a soap opera, don't care if he's a nice bloke and Mayweather's a twat (which he is, admittedly). I suppose I want Mayweather to win because I think he should.
Why SHOULD Mayweather win!
of deserved it because PBF is far superior!
If Hatton beats him then we may aswell keep PBF as p4p#1
because lets face it even in defeat he would of obviously been far
SUPERIOR!

This being tried for treason lark is getting very popular - Chambers 2 is having me banged up in the Tower of London and flogged for supporting Kessler rather than Froch should the two meet - In Hattons case though I support him 110%.lvlarc wrote:Hatton was very effective against Castillo too, for the few rounds that it lasted. I'll be cheering on Ricky right to the end. I f Ricky were to defeat Floyd, he would have reached the pinnacle of his profssion in defeating the P4P best boxer in the world. It's a hard assignment though, it really is. Mayweather is an exceptional talent, with so much skill & ability. Hatton says all that is useless if you're not able to use it, which is correct, but having all the ability helps a great deal.
I think Hatton has a solid chance, despite what some might try have us believe that the bout will be a complete mismatch! I don't think it will, although you never know in boxing & I could be proved wrong!
I like both guys, but who I want to win has been in question. It's Ricky every time.

No, I said I think he ought to win because he's the far superior boxer. What bit of that don't you understand? Or are you trying to goad me into a diatribe against Hatton to make an uninteresting argument? At the end of the day, it seems to me that you think I should support Hatton just because he's from England and despise Mayweather because he isn't. I don't get it, are we aryan super men and Mayweather's a "subhuman"? Should Scots adore George Galloway because he's Scottish> should the Irish adore Jerry Adams? Should Ugandans cherish the memory of Idi Amin Dada? I don't care where any boxer comes from, if I like watching their skills then I like watching their skills. I like watching Ray Robinson videos too, should I be vilified because he didn't rub his head in people's faces and wrestle, push, hit and hold while the 40's equivalent of Mickey Vann let him do it?rasputin wrote:So you are telling me that if Hatton beat PBF that he wouldntmrbassie wrote:Because he's by far the superior boxerrasputin wrote:

And here was me thinking it was to do with the injustices of the Versailles treaty, the fear of Bolshevism, and economic weakness.....search wrote:that line of thinking is how nazi germany sprang into fruition.
Theres no difference between cheering on the England football or rugby team, and cheering on an english or british boxer
how about you try to rise above thinking you are endlessly right? you cant tell me who to cheer on or not.... styles? mayweather boxes well, fights like a pussy. based on styles, im rooting for Hatton as well.Troll wrote:there is. the boxer are singular beings. as people have said, they have followed their careers. the styles make much more of a difference. they are not just football teams, they are individual people which different personalities. try to rise above being biased this way.MatthewS wrote:And here was me thinking it was to do with the injustices of the Versailles treaty, the fear of Bolshevism, and economic weakness.....Troll wrote:that line of thinking is how nazi germany sprang into fruition.

I didnt, I said it was no different to cheering on England representatives of other sports.... you were the one who said 'try to rise above'... get it right, tobysearch wrote:if you like hatton more, fair enough, but if some brits like floyd more fair enough. you cant tell them who to cheer or not.MatthewS wrote:how about you try to rise above thinking you are endlessly right? you cant tell me who to cheer on or not.... styles? mayweather boxes well, fights like a pussy. based on styles, im rooting for Hatton as well.Troll wrote: there is. the boxer are singular beings. as people have said, they have followed their careers. the styles make much more of a difference. they are not just football teams, they are individual people which different personalities. try to rise above being biased this way.
good for you mate. I hope you are wrong, but you are entitled to support whoever you want. I just happen to think that there is nothing wrong with supporting a boxer from your country, your region, your town, if you have no other reason to support the other fighter.search wrote:it is obviously subjectiv so to say that it is no diffferent to cheering on england in the world cup is laughable because CLEARLY it isn't tomany on this board and many others i know who cant wait to see hatton finally beaten by floyd.MatthewS wrote:I didnt, I said it was no different to cheering on England representatives of other sports.... you were the one who said 'try to rise above'... get it right, tobysearch wrote: if you like hatton more, fair enough, but if some brits like floyd more fair enough. you cant tell them who to cheer or not.
You equated supporting boxers from your own country with the founding of fascist regimes? and you want to talk about laughable?

i was responding to the poor nationalist comments (did you read the thread)?

Hes saying Mayweather is the more skilled boxer with superior skill, if Hatton wins mayweather is still more skilled its just Hatton will either outwork, out grit or outpower him.rasputin wrote: I understand perfectly but if he gets beat then is he still SUPERIOR!
