Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Wins By TKO In Second Round

KISSIMMEE, FL - Puerto Rican slugger Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. took out South Carolina's Corey Goodwin by TKO in the second round of a featherweight bout. Vazquez went to 9-0, 8 KOs, while Goodwin fell to 7-4, 4 KOs.
Adam Ortiz won by TKO at 2:08 of the fourth and final round over Luis Ruiz in a junior middleweight bout. Ortiz moved to 2-4, while Ruiz fell to 0-3.
Cruiserweight Ronson Frank remained unbeaten as he won a six-round unanimous decision over Orlando's Hilario Guzman. Frank (9-0, 4 KOs) won 58-55, 60-53 and 59-54. Florida Boxing News had Frank winning 60-53. Guzman fell to 6-23-4, 1 KO. Frank is from Brooklyn, NY.
Veteran junior welterweight Alex Perez improved to 23-25-4, 18 KOs with a four-round unanimous decision over Puerto Rico's Michael "Bling Bling" Mendez (4-9-2, 2 KOs). Perez won 39-35 X 2 and 38-36. Mendez was down twice in the second round. Florida Boxing News favored Perez 39-36.
Featherweight Derek Wilson won his professional debut with a unananimous decision (39-37 X 3) over Puerto Rico's Angel Albelo (0-2). Wilson, from Ft. Myers, FL, won the 2007 Eastern Trials at Cocoa, FL in the 119-pound division. Florida Boxing News had it a draw at 38-38.
Lightweight Melvin Vazquez won by TKO at 1:18 of the first round over Carlos Oyola. A right hook drove Oyola (0-2) into the ropes where referee Russ Hellstern stepped in and stopped it. Vazquez improved to 1-0-1. The bout was scheduled for four.
Junior middleweight Quintin Willis, who finished fifth in the 2007 Eastern Trials, won his professional debut with a unanimous decision over Charles Morales (1-4, 1 KO). There were no knockdowns. Willis, from Ft. Myers, FL, won 40-36 X 2 and 39-37. Florida Boxing News favored Willis 39-37. Morales is from Kissimmee.
