usa boxing/new staff?

Post by paunchy »

mel, have you worked with the staff at usab? i heard that the new guy andrew was extremely rude to a lot of the longtime voluteer coaches and officials. one comment in general was please don't give me that dumbass story about how long you've been an official and coach,or how much money you've spent out of your own pocket, because i don't have time to hear that crap and then walked off. this comes from a reliabe source and it shows a lack of respect to the people that have volunteered time and money to usab.he's a salaried employee and i seriously doubt that he would volunteer for any of this. jmo

I've had time to rethink your question and allegations. You might ask your "reliable source" why he or she hasn't confronted Andrew and tried to personally straighten out any misunderstandings or bad feelings. An open forum is not the place to air personal grievances and isn't fair to any or both parties. Maybe your "reliable source" needs to get some balls. :-?

boxmel, i was there and heard it myself.i was trying to find if you had any knowledge on it ,that's all. i see it's alright to air most anything on this forum,so i'm a little miffed at your comeback. the person in question thought it was better not to confront at the time and i agreed. as far as growing some balls, keep your punches up.

I don't know anything about what was said, But he did a good job for me in getting my travel arrangements made at Houston buy making a number of calls in a last minute situation. If what was said was true, I agree with Mel handle it at the time with him and if your can't work it out, do what you would do if a grocery clerk was disrespectful....go his his supervisor. That said, there are three sides to every story, his hers and the real one. Believe it or not Mel
I have even said things that I regretted saying...yes Mel, me.

How in the heck would I have any knowledge of a situation that happened that you heard, unless I was there? And had I been there, I'm sure I would have said something to Andrew at the time - or Jeff - or any other member of the staff.
i see it's alright to air most anything on this forum,so i'm a little miffed at your comeback.
This is generally a forum to discuss amateur boxing, not air differences with USAB staff members whose jobs could be impacted because of perceived problems that are not directly addressed.
the person in question thought it was better not to confront at the time and i agreed.
May I ask why the person in question thought this way, but it's okay to "confront" on a public forum? Just curious.

Mel - not everyone is willing to confront a situation head on. I have, but then again I'm an attorney so I'm not afraid of confrontation.

Dennis, I understand that. But do you think a public (and anonymous) forum is the place to air grievances, especially when only one point of view is being presented?

Mel I agree and disagree, As long as there is no vulgar and deceitful attempt to discredit anyone and as long as the information is truthful, I don't see a huge problem with asking the question about having any inside information that there may be some inconsiderate employees at USA Boxing. If Paunchy actually heard the words and is being factual, I don't have a problem with anyone seeing it. On the other hand I don't know too many boxing coaches that wouldn't get right in a persons face to set them straight if that was done.
But like Dennis said everyone is different. Between busting a persons backside for a smart remark, which would proven he had "balls" or was a very gritty female. this does seem like a better alternative. It isn't like anyone is is talking about someones personal life and the fact that Paunchy says that this was done in a public forum makes it public. Kind of like when Brittany Spears went out with no underpants on, which made that very pubic.... I mean public

Both of you are weird - at least you didn't bring Paris into the equation.

Hal - we have only heard one point of view and how do we know it's truthful or not? Someone called Andrew and reported what was being said about him on the forum. I still don't think this is the place to discuss this kind of issue where only one side of the story is being offered. End of discussion.

My husband says a person has to be certifiably insane to be involved in amateur boxing. Guess that makes me weird, too.

well, i was there and i heard it ,period. mel , promise you that i will never ask a question on this forum again. i read where you said it's not nice or appropriate to call names on the forum, but in an earlier post you call the guy from pa. an idiot. you need to read what you've put on here before you make any statements like that again. and dennis i met you at the nationals and you seem pretty straightfoward, but confronting the issue in front of a crowded arena at the world games is not the proper place either. i just asked mel a question(since i've known her for about 12yrs), and believe me i regret it. hal, your a good coach,as proven with your success. i just get worn out with the dismisal of the subject, like there's three sides to every story etc. so one more time ,i heard it with my own ears as well as dickie wood. i gaurantee that dickie has backed down from no one ever, and he thought it better to let it go and deal with it back in the springs. so i'll not write to the forum anymore and let you three control it like you do. sorry to have bothered you mel.

Paunchy, . No one on here is Gods law and we all have a right to speak our piece. I hope you will rethink about it and reconsider your choice to stop posting. This forum would not benefit at all by loosing you.

well, i was there and i heard it ,period.

Fine. You heard it and I didn't so there really isn't any reason to drag Andrew through the coals, right?
mel , promise you that i will never ask a question on this forum again
.

Oh, give me a break! Now you're acting like a kid. Stop pouting - it's not becoming.
i just asked mel a question(since i've known her for about 12yrs),
And considering I don't know who you are, I can't say the same thing. I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one, or take it to private email. I will not badrap any staff member on this forum and I will not give my opinion, other than in a very broad way, about any boxers on this forum. and if you're saying the incident happened at the Worlds, how in the heck would I have heard it since I wasn't there? Are you sure you know me???
i gaurantee that dickie has backed down from no one ever, and he thought it better to let it go and deal with it back in the springs.
Aha! Exactly! If he thought it better, and you seem to respect him, why didn't you take a hint and let it be handled outside of this forum? I respect Dickie and I think he did the right thing.
so i'll not write to the forum anymore

Promises, promises. LOL!
and let you three control it like you do.
Sorry for the hurt feelings, Whoever-You-Are. Not intentional.
sorry to have bothered you mel.

I'm not sure I can maintain a relationship with such a cold hearted woman. Maybe it's best we call this whole thing off before I get hurt.

I didn't realize that I was a person who controlled this forum. I speak my mind and am not afraid to do so. I have and probably will continue to occasionally offend someone. I don't do it deliberately, but I will give my opinion. Some people take offense to it. Mel has decided to not voice her opinion about boxers because she has taken heat for it which is a shame. I could give an opinion about boxers and still be unbiased in judging. I do it all the time at various tournaments. I'll say who I think might win and then say how I think they performed. Many boxers don't like to hear any criticism, but I think it is only going to help them in the end.

Paunchy - you met me, know Hal and know Mel, but we don't seem to know who you are. If you want us to know who we are talking to, you should tell us.

Mel - when did Chris Cuddy leave USA Boxing? I know he was working there in June. His tenure was quite short.
