BOXING IS CORRUPT

Post by MTG »

im sad to admit but in this country its too corrupt.

although i was unfit for my last outing i was approached at the weigh in to take a dive.
this is the main reason ive not continued boxing as im sick with what i did.before i even stripped off for the scales i was offered a nice sum to take a dive in the first to make my opponent look good-he never even hit me.i can only apoligise and i know that this is the end off my dream but feck all you dis=beileivers)spelling),i get enough stick and humiliation from my friends and family so im off to australia to start a life.

sorry mike jenno but you hit like a pussy!!!!

boxing in uk is so corrupt i cant bare to watch anymore shit.

A friend of mine was a pro fighter at the lower end of the scale and the stuff that happened to him was unbelieveable, he was constantly ripped off on his purse, told to go on 'move arounds' with fellow gym mates. (If you watch two pros from the same gym box each other on the lower end of the card then you'll know it is a move around) and all kinds of other crap which made me see boxing in a new light.

I don't know about your fight with Jenno, all I know is you gave it a go and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Martin, I hope you make a good life for yourself down under. Good luck and I sincierly mean that.

I did the circuit, had a lot of fights as an opponent and nothing like this ever happened to me.

I also am good friends with many journeymen and this has never happened to them either.

Matchmaking is such that you don't need to pay off opponents to take a dive.

Even if this did happen the boxer would lose his license for poor performances.

How much were you offered then and who offered it to you????

Surely it would be far more profitable to make a career on the road rather than having a few quid extra to take a dive.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Get yourself fit, have some bouts and get your self respect back, otherwise you will regret this for the rest of your life

So a boxer who had f all chance of winning due to poor conditioning was offered a bung to take a dive?

MTG, I genuinely respect all men who enter the ring, and this thread will be justifiably locked soon, but there is no cohesive logic about anything you say. Enjoy Oz.

:o i was the matchmaker at that show mate and after the nice things i said to try to say to perk you up when you got hammered im a bit gutted now.

Even tho i know you have no intention of fighting again the board will take your license away for comments like this.

We could all see from your lack of conditioning, cornerman and any kind of fightplan what was going to happen.(i was not happy when i saw you weigh in ,i expected a guy making his debut to be in decent shape)

To degrade your opponents victory with comments like these show your total lack of knowledge of the sport.

If this kind of ridiculous statement makes you feel better then its a good job you retired after one round of fighting.

To sum up im pretty sure these "cloak and dagger protagonists" would only offer a bribe if they actualy thought there was a chance of an upset

Oh, and I only just saw this as well, well all I can say Martin is they are not yours friends are they? Get rid of them as they are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. As for your family making you feel like shit then you can't pick your family but ask them all what they have done with their lives? There probably won't be enough to write two pages in any decent autobiography between them.

Be honest, told them you had a go and make no alibis, if what you say is true then you know deep down thats what happened and you can sleep at night. If it didn't happen then think everything over and try to set your life towards a path of honesty... life is better if you are not only honest with others then yourself, as a great man once said

'Honesty may be the hard road to take but it makes a comfortable bed at night'

Boxing has been corrupt in the past and I'm sure it will be in the future.

But lets get it clear that all sport has it and where money can be made you'll get scum who break rules and you'll get people who will take money for 'taking dives'. Its a sad state of affairs but that is life.

I am confident however that 99% of Boxing is clean and too say its totally corrupt on the back of an incident that happened in a career of 1 fighter is very unfair and damn right ignorant.

He had more pull outs than a gay boy in a brothel and then because he got a whooping comes out with this shite.
Why the fornicate you bothered comin back before - was it New Zealand last time because everyone was against you ? - I don't know.

i find it hard to believe martin to be honest, you were making your debut and you are hardly tommy hearns. i respect any man who enters the ring but surely you cant expect any sympathy with comments like this.

we know journey men ply their trade with an attitude of 'survival before victory' ... im not sure if this aspect of the sport is corrupt but i dont really like it to be honest, i would rather watch an ernie smith type tryer any day of the week......but

for you to make a statement like this then i hope you are being honest.

well...did you take the supposed dive?

I agree with all above!!
MTG You are a complete jackass,a shite boxer with no friends  .

Who is gona offer a fighter whose making his debut a bribe to take a dive.
You wasnt fit, over weight. Why would anybody offer you a bribe seeing you in the condition you were in.You were bound to lose anyway!

If you can just look back at the all the post's you have made on Boxrec offering out dedicated boxers, insulting promoters and matchmakers.

You should be ashame of youself for making up shit like this.

Always used to give this guy the benefit of the doubt despite the fact his ramblings and excuses seemed to get increasingly tenuous, but it's actually finally clear that he's slightly unhinged.
The lesson most of us learn the older we get is that life's tough, and those who get on are those who accept that everything's not going to go exactly the way they want and rather than waste time and energy trying to blame circumstances they don't like on everything and everyone around them they take personal responsibility for their situation and try and make positive things happen. No prizes for guessing which camp this joker is in.

Moving to Australia is harder than it sounds, you need to prove income, have a job sorted, have a lot of cash in the bank, pass all their criteria, lots of paperwork involved, it will take many months.

It is not something you can sort out in a couple of weeks, def not by Dec 1st unless you are on a tourist visa

This may be hard to believe for some of you, but it does happen. Promoters have boxers they want to build up and use low paid boxers like Martin to take a dive.. Why would he come on here, risk everything by making all this up?
Martin, for what its worth, I believe you, but dont think you should jack it all in. Go out there and show them what you're made of..

And for the post that says that the board will take away his licence, how do we really know for sure that it is really him? anyone could view a boxers record on the net and make stuff up?
Its up to us as forum members what we chose to believe!!!

He got beat anyway in the first round without taking a dive, lacked expierience, lacked conditioning and also cornermen i doubt managers, etc was quaking in there boots for someone so unprepared then decided to offer a bribe? gotta be realistic
