Controversial Sydney boxer Anthony Mundine has been offered $1 million to fight fellow Australian Danny Green in Montreal next year. The offer came from Canadian promoter Yvon Michel, who recently staged Green's sensational six-round win over Eric Lucas.
It will depend on Green beating German Markus Beyer for the WBC super-middleweight title proper in February.
"Danny Green's performance in winning his world title fight against Eric Lucas on Saturday night has gained considerable respect," said Michel.
"Anthony Mundine is big news in the US and such a fight would create enormous interest."

Add to that, the one million dollar purse Manny Pacquiao will pick up for
challenging reigning WBA/IBF champion Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico in March, and the old sport is still the ultimate earner.

Mundine vs Green.

PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ.

Delighted, especially with the featherweight war, Marquez will come through in my opinion but Pacquiao is exceptional aswell.

Michael Brodie must be a relieved man, he was supposed to fight Pacquiao (providing he gets past the daunting Chi). Seems like Pacquiao's shot for the WBC belt won't happen for a while.

Fantastic fights, worthy of the money.

I think Nas was the first million dollar featherweight wasn't he?

Manny Pac deserves it after an amazing 2003 - he must be topping the sports earnings list in his country now.

Mean Machine Green v The Man Mundine - that's got a ring to it 8)

Bizzare if it's not held in Oz though - but follow the money..

Calzaghe must be tearing his hair out - the two Aussies make big bucks in a superfight and he gets old Mkrtrkrkrkawhatisname in Cardiff.

I have heard the Tony Mundine Snr is talking down speculation of a Green vs Mundine match. Something about Green's low ranking with WBA! Not sure exactly what this is supposed to mean, but certainly the Austrailian title fight is not confirmed.

Maybe Mundine was thinking if Green loses to Beyer his WBA ranking will still be low.

More likely he's worrying about his kid getting sparked out by Green!! At last, throw aside the Boxing politics and make matches we can all enjoy!

Green v Mundine, now there's a fight I would like to see.

The old guard is fast passing I think, Calzaghe has missed the boat I reckon, there's new blood coming through, and if they actually get it on, it could become an exciting division again. Once Ottke retires, things will heat up, and with Green and Mundine in the mix, things are looking better all the time.

Why doesn't Calzaghe fight green? It would surely be a big show if Green beats Beyer, and Green seems like the sort who would fight anyone anywhere.

I totally agree James, a recently maligned division, Super Middleweight has suddenly become a lot more interesting. Calzaghe's time is nearly up as he searches for that big fight, his appetite is decreasing and i think he will soon start to decline, Ottke is as good as finished, Beyer is fading away too as is Lucas. With Froch, Mundine, Green, Lacy etc coming through, it's out with the old and in with the new!
