Welsh article, more Mac-Haye bile & Mac-Cunningham in Am

Post by Autobarn »

I just read this absolute fecking piece of shit,

http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/sports/s ... -20124758/

Enzo Mac is going to fight Cunningham on the Calzaghe-Hopkins undercard in America. David Haye is again letting words speak louder than actions, by ducking Enzo. Pigs will also fly.

Boxing: Macca’s American dream
Nov 18 2007 by Peter Shuttleworth, Wales On Sunday

ENZO MACCARINELLI hopes Wales’ two boxing warriors can break America together, writes PETER SHUTTLEWORTH.

The cruiserweight king wants to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with stablemate Joe Calzaghe and go toe-to-toe with the States superstars in their own backyard.

Big Macc is targeting IBF cruiserweight champ Steve Cunningham and would love to take on the 31-year-old giant as chief support if Calzaghe’s highly-anticipated super-fight with Bernard Hopkins is done.

WBO champ Maccarinelli said: “Me against Cunningham would be a perfect support for Calzaghe v Hopkins.

“Both Cunningham and Hopkins were born and raised on the streets of Philadelphia and Joe and I are proud Welsh boys who want to take on the best they’ve got to offer.

“We’ll double-team them. Cunningham will fight where the money is and I’ll fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. My dream is to have a title-fight in America – I’m more than ready. It’s one of the fights out there that really excite me. Cunningham’s good but I don’t fear him.”

Motormouth cockney David Haye, the new unified WBA and WBC cruiserweight champ, has called Macca out for a potential explosive ‘Battle of Britain’ – but only if the pair move up to heavyweight.

The ‘Hayemaker’ has a history of letting his words speak louder than his actions. The 27-year-old star previously verbally agreed to fight Maccarinelli but did not seal the deal.

Haye seems to be running scared again; he likes the idea of taking on Macca but not that much.

Haye’s defeat of Jean-Marc Mormeck last week for the WBA and WBC crown was his last at cruiserweight as he admits himself he ‘struggles to make weight.’

So if Macca took the fight, he’d give almost three stone advantage to Haye. But the Welshman’s promoter allegedly is working hard to persuade Haye to stay at cruiserweight and fight the Swansea showman in a big-money unification clash.

In fact, Warren revealed: “I offered him (Haye) a no-strings attached deal to fight the Welshman on the undercard to Calzaghe v Kessler.

“It was more money than he got for Mormeck but he said he wanted the bigger fight. What could have been bigger than a Battle of Britain with Maccarinelli...in front of 50,000 people and screened live on HBO in the United States?

“Haye knows in his heart of hearts that Maccarinelli has the beating of him at or around cruiserweight.”

Macca remains coy on a potential match with Haye but he did admit: “Me against Haye is the biggest, most exciting and potentially attractive fight in Britain today bar none.”

I like Warren's line, "at or around Cruiserweight".

Could the fight be made at 210? with the weigh in on the morning of the fight?

I don't know. I just think it's amazing how much shit and lies that bastards are allowed to talk. And how much these sheep shagging writers are prepared to spin the truth. So Haye ducked Macaroni for more money, because he'd already signed to fight the real champ Mormeck. What disingeious bollox.

210 sounds good, but surely this is all about getting a dead-at-the-weight Haye, not a healthy Haye.

They don't want the WBA and WBC titles. Even thouhg they say it's about the belts. That just means more mandatories. Macaroni would vacate those belts if he ever won them, like Calzaghe did with the IBF and like Joe will do with the ones he took from Kessler.

What a joke

Haye avoided Enzo and fought the World recognised best man in the Cruiserweight division :D Whislt Enzo fought Azzaoui.

Frank W and his bully boys.

Enzo and Joe are going to do a tag team with the baddest of Philly, Cunningham and Hopkins. As if.

Lying WBO coveting Welsh writer recruiting bullshitters, who can choose their own opponent for 98% of "world title" fights.

Gotta say, writers like these are either corrupt or thick. They make me sick. They are a real problem.

One writer from Wales also said that Kessler was scared of fighting Calzaghe and ducked him for years.

These writers probably have to do this to get a ringside seat.

I guess we'll see what being part of an bout that had the potential to eclipse an undisputed title shot will do for Azzaoui's profile on the world stage.

This is why the Sports Network HWs only ever fight each other. The empty promises of world title shots must just be to shut up the idiot anoraks who don't realise that neverending domestic 'Battles of Britain' are preferable to taking on the best in the world anytime.

Articles like that are the reason why Calzaghe took years to get respect and why MACCARONI will never be respected.

Joke article. He must owe rabbit-hole money. Can anyone find an e-mail address for Shuttlesworth?

Does the small matter of Cunningham/Huck mean nothing?

And where does he get three stone difference from?

Tool.

He must have quoted one of Bunceys exaggerations. Enzo must enter the ring at about 14 and a half stone and Haye won't weigh in at over 16 and a half IMO, so feck knows where the other stone comes from

They won't go near Huck, who will be well looked after by Sauerland. Huck certainly won't come over here for chump change.

It really is terrible. I've read plenty of good stuff from Peter but this is highly biased and inexcusable. I don't even want to get into tearing it apart.

And Autobarn is totally correct. If you don't toe the line, you often find yourself frozen out. I realised some time ago it is better to keep your self-respect and balls than write stuff like this. But it can cost you - and not just financially.

F rank is, I think it would be fair to say, quite litigious. In saying that, if he is defamed he has a right to be. But, generally speaking, newspaper editors simply don't want aggro so will print either positive stuff or nothing at all.

Can anyone find me (other than Niall Hickman) a disparaging piece about him or Sports Network - from a sporting point of view, nothing else - which has appeared in the print media in the last couple of years?

If he'd stuck to the quotes, there would have been nothing wrong. It would have been sound journalism. I don't know why he sought to put his own slant on the situation; that is not good newspaper writing. If it was an opinion column, it would be a different matter, but this is supposedly a news story.

If Enzo fought Haye at CW then Haye then It should be made as fair as possible for Haye since he's drained at the weight, but at HW It should be made as fair as possible for Enzo since he can make 190 easy while Haye walks around at 16stone.

210 in Wales sounds spot on to me. 215 in London.

Well at HW Haye has the advanatage not being drained while Enzo might look like a tubby.

At CW Enzo Is fit while Haye Is drained.

Haye's only drained because he weight lifted his way to Heavy like Hide did.

looks like the fight's a dead duck then. haye can offer o'nell bell a 210 fight instead, for instance...

could have happened but warren wanted to own haye. haye already had earned a shot at the main champ and when mormeck won the title back, the fragomeni fight proved to be the perfect preparation. can't believe warren dare say haye should have taken the enzo fight instead, when all was geared into fighting for the WBC (whose mandatory position he'd earned) and WBA.
