[quote="josh fg"]I don't think Froch is better than Vite and Manfrado is reson in its self for the fight to be made. Froch is a good fighter and part of me would like to see the fight but if Calzaghe has two or three fights left in him to secure a legacy he won't do that by fighting Froch.
...Froch is not a better fighter than Veit??!!

What a load of bollox! Calzaghe is the undisputed SMW champion, end of. Everyone banged on about lacy and he demolished him, then evryone said he had to fight Kessler, or he was running scared of Kessler and he dismantled him.Autobarn wrote:More Sports Network drivel, Max. Frank W is hailing Pavlik as the big fight, and no doubt you'll give Joe credit for beating Pavlik if it ever happens.
How can Calzage call anyone a joke? He was a national (and international) joke between 2003 and the Lacy fight. Manfredo and Toddler Pockwell were jokes yet there was no shame in taking those mismatches.
Joe is only good in the biggest fights, vs title holders. When he has a hungry guy gunning for him he'll be in bother. Froch could be bigger and stronger up close than Bika was and Joe was a rank (wank?) amateur in that bout.
He's a great fighter basically gunning for other champions. He's not an accomplished title holder by any stretch. Because he's made a pig's ear of it a few too many times in putting his belt on the line.

Why would a man who fought the useless Peter Manfredo & the crude slugger, Sakio Bakio think that a fight with a talented up & coming SMW would be a joke?
Imagine if Chris Eubank thought that fighting an unknown but talented SMW from South Wales in 1997 was a joke at the time, what effect it would have had on that fighters career?
Calzaghe needs to remember where he came from!

He is The super midlde champ. He's also a future hall of famer and a top 3-4 p4p.fist wrote:What a load of bollox! Calzaghe is the undisputed SMW champion, end of. But he has put in some shoddy title defenses over the years. Great 2006 and 2007 wins don't completely make up for that.
I admit, Joe is great vs other champions. Is he great when other ppl gun for him? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Maybe he rises to any challenge. Maybe the blatant opponent picking in most of his other fights was for a reason. I am very curious to see how he fares vs a hungry, unbeaten fighter who wants to rip his belts off him.
If Joe can be perfect vs Lacy, brilliant vs Kessler, vulnerable vs Bika and a downright mess vs David Starie, then I don't think he's going to be brill vs everyone.
No one really cared about his title reign until 2006. He did great to excell in his mid 30s, but come on, as "undisputed" as he is, how many "undisputed" defenses will he make? Nada.

You can;t always look good and wasn't Kessler hungry and unbeaten?Autobarn wrote:He is The super midlde champ. He's also a future hall of famer and a top 3-4 p4p.fist wrote:What a load of bollox! Calzaghe had the chance to 'cement his legacy' (that cliche needs removing from boxing lexicon) in the late 1990's, when the likes of Jones Jr were the big fish & JC himself was in his prime.Captain Hook wrote:josh fg wrote:I don't think Froch is better than Vite and Manfrado is reson in its self for the fight to be made. I don't care about Joe making money or going down in history, I want to see him in exciting fights & fighting ancient, boring middleweights like Hopkins is not my idea of exciting.
Froch absolutely deserves his chance to shine against a legend like Joe.
Judging from you Berrio comment, I presume you're convinced that Inkin comfortably beats Froch then.Max Molyneux wrote:Froch might only win a belt against a Berrio type champion anyway.
He could of fought Bute but fought Bute's victim Instead.![]()
As for Calzaghe's shitty defences there In the past and we should get over It.
'Butes victim' got starched in 2 rounds despite never being previously stopped, in fact neither Bute or Eastman couldn't drop him in their 24 rounds against him
Theres no way I'll be able to forget Calzaghes 101 shitty defences as easy as you can. He even went straight back to type after the Lacy win and fought Bika and Peter fornicating Manfredo

Calzaghe has fought too many joke fighters to be calling Froch a joke.

Were you a boxing fan from 1998-2002? Every Calzaghe fight Darkie was saying "he needs another sensational performance, like the day he beat Chris Eubank," or "The Americans don't think he's ready for the big stage."

Calzaghe has every justification to fight Froch now.Max Molyneux wrote:Just because Calzaghe fought Froch level fighters In the past doesn't mean you can still justify him fighting Froch now.
Calzaghe will be retiring In a couple of fights as well.
He's perfectly within his rights to say that he doesn't want to fight him, because he wants big paydays etc; that's his perogative & if that is his only motivation these days, then that's fine.
To say that a Froch fight would be a joke when he has fought Peter Manfredo & Sakio Bika in the last 18 months, plus all the other dross he has fought over the last decade is an insult to our intelligence.
Calzaghe just wants to get paid these days, which is sad news for boxing fans, as he is a special fighter.
It's just a shame he wasn't more motivated to be the best 6 - 8 years ago!!!

Even If Froch trained In a pretend barn In Russia, Calzaghe would still Ivan Drago him.
Bika's done more than Froch and more proven. Manfredo was just a money fight and many Calzaghe fans will tell you that, I think he can outbox Froch though.

I also believe that JC would outpoint Froch, but I firmly believe that Froch is worthy challenger to Joe's crown.Max Molyneux wrote:http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ns6p_8wGPXY

Froch is far better than a lot of JC's opponents over the years & he has not reason to say that a Froch fight would be a joke.
He should just come clean & say that a Froch bout is not a big enough payday for him & stop trying to hide behind this joke nonsense, because Froch clearly is not a joke & would give Joe a stern test.
