hagler vs robinson
i see this one going the distance.
its also a close call.

I think I've said it before, but what Sugar Ray II sneaks out the back door with, The original Sugar could just step up and take. Not that it would not be somewhat competitive.
I also think this is not the definitive MW match. Monzon vs Robinson takes those honors, and I believe Carlos would perservere in that matchup.

There've arguably been better Middleweights than Robinson outside of Monzon (who would defeat Robinson at MW). Mickey Walker maybe (immensely underrated champion) & of course the grand Harry Greb.BoxBuzz wrote:I think I've said it before, but what Sugar Ray II sneaks out the back door with, The original Sugar could just step up and take. RE: hagler vs robinson
Hagler had a solid chin. He does not get knocked out but loses the decision.
Well..to the end of the fight and ultimately prevail. My hurried shorthand can often be vague and ambiguous.harrygreb wrote:decision robinson. ray v monzon is an absolute dream of a fight. carlos sneaks it. by the way boxbuzz "carlos would PERSEVERE..."????
i'm sure both fighters would persevere but only one would PREVAIL.
thats the word youre looking for old pal (very unlike you)

There is no doubt that this fight would go the distance.jimbraddock wrote:i see this one going the distance.

Both men had titanium chins & it's doubtful that ANY MW could have KO'd either man.
OK, Robinson took a god few counts, but he did have 202 fights & fought until he was 45, so it's understandable.
If Robinson was in his peak as a middleweight, he would outpoint Hagler, but if you are talking about the 30+ Robinson who did so well in the division, I'd say that Hagler would win on points.

I think a prime Hagler beats a prime Robinson, but just barely, MD type stuff. Ray Leonard managed to beat him but he had a good strategy and Hagler fought like an idiot at the beginning, though that's not to take anything away from Leonard. But I think Hagler-Robinson is pretty much a toss-up. Monzon beats both closely but more clearly imo.

I don't think it's out of the question Robinson could beat Hagler inside the distance. Fullmer was perceived to have an iron jaw, & had never even been down, much less out, before Robinson disposed of him with one shot. LaMotta's chin is famously durable but he was stopped before the final bell. These fights were also at Middleweight.
But I'll take Robinson by fairly clear decision.

What is that.....a comedy encore?Seamus wrote:Career wise Robinson clearly ranks higher, but Hagler's the better Middleweight. Robinson dropped decisions to guys Hagler would have diced to ribbons. Hagler by UD probably 145-141.
Hagler is going to out box SRR? Shit SRL boxed the socks off Hagler. Stop now!!..... and step back away from the bottle, crack pipe, or needle......it is time to get help.

Ask Sugar Ray Leonard how difficult a task that was it took him all of 14 rounds to barely beat a green and seemingly starved Tommy Hearns. Put an extra two pounds on him and Tommy and it's Hearns W 15.
No weight problems with Hagler though. Now please go away.

You guys are fornicate'n retarded. You are proving it one post at a time. You are trying to tell me Marvin Hagler out boxes SRR!! Marvin Hagler doesn't out box anybody who can box!! So what if SRR traded with fighters. He would stone Hagler dead. To make the comparision of Tommy Hearns and his stupid fight plan vs Hagler, and say Hagler would have done the same to SRR is absurd.Elton John wrote:ringsider wrote:What is that.....a comedy encore?Seamus wrote:Career wise Robinson clearly ranks higher, but Hagler's the better Middleweight. You're obviously on something or deranged or I don't know what because you sure don't know what the hell you're talking about. I don't see anyone in the history of the sport being able to stand up to the same Hagler that squashed hitman in three. His attack would have instantly vaporized most anyone else except for the super elite
