Hatton Sparing

I know Ricky mentioned he would probably be using Steve Forbes again as they had worked with each other before but does anyone know what other sparing partners Ricky has been using to try and replicate Floyd's style? Who would you like to see him with?

I know Mayweather has been using Baldomir and N'Dou, do you think they are the best guys around to prepare him for Hatton?

Karim Mayfield is one. He was here for a week or two. He's 5-0 with a similar style I think.

in Vegas its Rock Allen and Karl Dargan, and some other golden boy fighter I think.

Interesting with Golden Boy providing the sparring partners, I wonder how much of this is direct influence from De La Hoyas experience of sparring. He'd probably be the best person for knowing with hindsight whether his own sparring sessions did enough to mimic Floyds style. I'm sure Oscar could be very helpful with his advice should he prepared to put some time into it. And it's in his interests too considering he'd favour a Hatton win as it would line up his next opponent.

As Ricky has said himself, there will be no excuses - Every conceivable aspect of training, sparring and general preparation is being given to him - Ricky will win with body shots around 7 or 8.

Forbes must be mad or rich. That sounds like a nice little earner.....is Forbes not the Contender guy who worked in the car factory and they gave him some time off to train and he ended up winning......if so I'd have thought he'd have jumped at that.

Malinaggia would be great for speed etc but I doubt he would be interested in bit parts as from what I saw against Nndou he could really make some waves, I don't recall seeing anyone as quick getting in and out for a good while. He makes Khan look like slow motion.

No m8 that was Grady Brewer I think who ended up winning. He bear Forbes in the final. Forbes is a former IBF world superfeatherweight champ.

Another Contender winner whose career went nowhere. I presume Brewer retired because he has not fought since.....

Forbes had a big win post-Contender. The fella had his first child man, has options - he's more than just a sparring partner. Equally, he's not an exact mimic of Mayweather by any means.

I read somewhere, maybe Boxingtalk, that DLH had provided Bojado as one of the sparring partners... not sure how his style is any good for the job?

Bojado was trainied by Floyd Snr for quite a while and although he started off as a slugger type he had some really slick moves after training under Snr. Bit of waste of talent was bojado - he had everything going for him but blew it against a very beatable Leija by just not throwing punches - though much easier said than done I have to admit!

Hope you're right mate but I just can't see it. I think Mayweather on points is by far the likeliest outcome but I hope Hatton & Graham have something up their sleeves to disrupt his rythm.

Well Goz, the way I see it Hatton hasnt taken this fight for what will obviously be a huge payday - Its all about beating Mayweather and being the best at light welter and welter of all time, a glory fight really IMO - Graham wasnt happy about the Collazo fight which he had doubts about but like Ricky, he really fancies Rickys chances for this one - These people know their game and their opponents and I believe know the best way to beat Mayweather - If it was just for the pay cheque I would have some doubts about Rickys ability to win, but it isnt. Rickys relentless pressure is the key element along with blocking the side door Floyd will be looking for to escape - Mayweather will beat any boxer but fighters such as Hatton and Cotto who are excellent boxers as well, have more than a good chance of beating him - Ricky will more than tickle Floyds ribs to destroy his and 0 record - No, I really do believe Ricky will be crowned all time king of the two divisions and if he goes on to beat Cotto as well there is no doubt whatsoever that he deserves that title - Then I think he should retire, surely he has made more than enough and will have many media opportunities to keep him busy in the future.
