Nards definately bottled it then, I can't say I'm too disappointed. I'd prefer JC-Froch, but this is a fantastic alternative. It has a JC UD writ all over it IMO, but I think Woods could push him close.

Incidentally Witter was interviewed on Sky Sports News and he was saying he "wishes Hatton good luck for the fight, its a massive task, but it would be great for British boxing if he could" (there was no bitterness directed to Ricky in his tone or his words)

Beyond Dawson, I think this is the toughest fight out there for Calzaghe.

He wont drop Woods. He'll have to box him from the outside. Woods is game, tough and strong at the weight. Calzaghe has every advantage apart from power, I think, ponderous though he can be, Woods hits harder.

But can't see how Woods improves on Kessler's effort personally.

incidentally, struck me as interesting that Joe has made a lot recently about his hardest fight to date being against Chris Eubank........I'm sure I remember him making the very same comment right after boxing Richie Woodhall, which was AFTER Eubank......of course that was right after the fight and he's no doubt reflected on it since then but I thought it was strange nonetheless.

JC and Woodhall were decent mates at the time of the fight (prob still are), so he was probably just giving props to his Telford mucka

The Woodhall fight was closer in the early rounds from memory.

The truth of it is, that Lacy would probably knock out Woods even with the weight advantage.

Woods is getting his head boxed if Calzaghe is in anything like peak shape.. pointless fight.

Clinton Woods isnt a world champion, hes a title holder. As far as im concerned its not the same thing. Woods just isnt in Calzaghes league and it makes a mockery of everything JC said about wanting to fight the best in the world to secure his legacy.

If this fight goes ahead its gonna mean Calzaghe wont get a really meaningful fight until probably next autumn and he hasnt exactly got time on his side.

You know, I am gradually beginning to warm to Witter - He has been far more humble and honest of late and who knows I could maybe even become a fan.

I think its a good fight and far from a forgone conclusion that Joe will win it - He probably will but Woods is tough and bangs hard so an upset isnt out of the question - Cant see Joe getting a stoppage but he should get the points win - Clinton seems to have too much respect for Joe, can he actually believe he can beat him - If he cant its just a massive payday in a fight he has no chance of winning - If Joe wins and Hopkins beats Jones/Trinidad winner, I can see Calzage taking the belt to America for a showdown and finale with Hopkins in about one year from now.

Very unlikely though. Woods has a cast iron chin. Jones stopped him with body shots and his corner pulled him out, he wasn't knocked out.

And how is that relevant, at that point in time Jones was virtually untouchable, so what if Woods lost to him? I think Woods has improved since then also.

If he fights Calzaghe, expect a hard night for Joe, and I'll bet in private Joe would admit the same, that Woods is not going to be an easy night's work by any stretch of the imagination.

Woods isn't quick, but he has most shots in the book, a good workrate, a fighting heart and a very good beard. He's also a naturally bigger man that Calzaghe.

Lacy is a big strong musclebound guy with quick hands, but his movement is poor and he is unable to fight off of the back foot. Personally I think Woods would eat him alive after a few hard rounds.

Alot of boxers must feel under pressure to self-publicise and be contoversial, I reckon that was the case with Witter and it went against his natural demeanour. I hope hes part of Hattons home coming plans.

fornicate the yanks off, Nard called out JC's name after he beat Winky and now hes bottled it. Nards a prick and RJJ's a shadow of his former self, his workrates been piss poor since the Ruiz fight. I'm not a fan of either fights, but unfortunately thats where JC gets the BIG bucks, so hes gonna stalk them. Froch would be top of my JC opponent list, followed by Woods then Dawson. Love the idea of Froch fighting the winner of JC-CW
