We are giving a level 1 and 2 coaches' clinic on December 8, 2007 at 10:30 am. This will be held during the LBC tourney at the Leelanau Sands Casino. Anyone that needs to get certified or re-certified should attend.
This clinic will be the first in Michigan to use USA Boxing's new Level 1 & 2 exams. So it will be a good time for coaches to get recertified, learn something new and get current on the rules. I hope a lot of coaches take the opportunity to sit through the clinic.
Dennis, what subjects are talked about in the course? How many hours and are there practical work too or only theory? How many coaches are expected to attend?

We discuss the rules, training techniques, nutrition, safety and general coaching issues. The clinics are several hours of lecture/discussion and then a test period. I try to make it informative and we have discussions about events that have occurred and issues that have arisen at local, national and international competitions. We try to make it as practical as possible so that the coaches in Michigan understand the rules, the reasons behind them (a few rules do not seem to have any reasoning behind them and it is just because AIBA said so) and how to keep our boxers safe. Usually about 10-12 coaches attend this clinic. I hope this helps.
