It is dead close to hand. $20 or so in a cab. Dont bother hiring a car if you are staying around the strip.
Dont forget to set up a 'tip roll' made up of low value bills in one pocket away from your real cash - everyone will have their hand out from the moment you land.
Have a good un!

Sound advice Chris - I nearly smacked a cabbie when he started jawing about me not tipping him for a short journey - its such a different ethos to our tipping attitude in the UK.chris s wrote:About $12 if no traffic and takes about 5-10 mins. don't forget to tip or the fcuker is likely to drive off with your luggage and/or give you a mouthful!
It is hard for us to fathom out, but Vegas service workers earn crap money and live on tips. The punks who open the cab doors for you at the hotels and expect a dollar pay thousands in backhanders to land those jobs.TerribleTerry wrote:Sound advice Chris - I nearly smacked a cabbie when he started jawing about me not tipping him for a short journey - its such a different ethos to our tipping attitude in the UK.chris s wrote:About $12 if no traffic and takes about 5-10 mins. don't forget to tip or the fcuker is likely to drive off with your luggage and/or give you a mouthful!
I had a coke at Mandalay Bay once - was charged $3 and the guy gave me a filthy look for not giving him a dollar for squirting a drink in a glass.

Yes mate - it saves time and aggrevation.Wales wrote:So the order of the day is to get a roll of one dollar bills ??
After a day or two of being there you will instinctively reach for your tip roll, peel off a couple of notes and hand them over without having to search through the various denominations in your pocket to make sure you aren't handing over a $50 bill!
American notes look very similar, especially when you have has a few!

Just get a big roll of bills. But also don't be afraid of asking the waitress for change as they're only too glad to get rid of the small bills for your big bills.Wales wrote:So the order of the day is to get a roll of one dollar bills ??
When I was gambling, the beer was free and I was tipping the lady between $1 to $2 dollars which they were happy with and kept coming back offering me more drinks. Don't tip them = no more free drinks for you!
Or if you don't gamble do what Emerson does best, look for a waitress go to the next table and scratch your chin so when she comes over she thinks you are gambling and gets you a $6 bottle of Corna for a $1, it worked every time for him! Getting free drinks off the back of my gambling, jammy sod
In the clubs they get a bit more shitty with tips, I got a $23 round in, and paid with $30 dollars and she gave me the flithyest look, told her if she wasn't happy then give me the fuckin money back!
As Mr Pink said:
I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

Sam, I'm in MGM too, flying in Friday night so make sure we meet up!
Just had one of Demetrius Hopkins' trainers fix my cable in my Hotel room. Surreal.
You can also get $1 beers by sitting in a keno pit and pretending to gamble. Each person grabs a betting sheet but only one two actually place a bet per round. Just sit and tip and you basically drink for free.
Also don't be afraid to go to the smaller places like Barbary Coast or Casino Royale. They usually have some cheap drink deals. If you're used to paying ₤3+ per beer you'll think you died and went to heaven.
Last but not least, if you find yourself sitting at one of the bars with the poker machines check out the return change slot located by you knee. They get so many novice gamblers there, and with all the background noise, they frequently miss the dollars that the machine didn't read and spit out. Could be worth a few free beers without even trying.
