Kellet didnt fight he pulled out the night before, prince george acrong came in at last minute and lost on points to stafford, and Dilks stopped wood in the first.
Billy Smith gave Burke an absolutly cracking test which Steve deserdly won but the score gave smith no credit at all.
Rocco got the flu on the day of the fight.
Brough beat Carey in the 3rd Carey took the fight the day before so was up against it.

* Stegsie* Do you know the name of the pub, not far from Lime Street with photos of boxers all over the walls? I stumbled in there once years ago, not sure if they're all scouse boxers but I remember a few McAteers on the wall. Never found the pub since.

The Cross Keys (Just Off Old Hall Street) has got pictures of Liverpool Fighters all over the walls - that's the only one I can think off. Not near Lime street though - so not sure if that's the pub you mean.

My grandad drank in there in the 1940's and it was quite common that if a fighter in the nearby stadium got pulled out or never showed etc, the promoters would go into the cross keys and ask any of the locals if they wanted to earn a few bob and step in!!

Can;t see that heppening now adays!

I see in BN that the book'Mersey fighters 2' is out. Was the first any good, do you know? I'm sure the pub I mean was a short walk from Lime Street, but I'm afraid I was very, very drunk.
