According to allegedly's website, Enzo Maccarinelli is poised to defend his WBU cruiserweight title against West Ham's Garry Delaney at the Cardiff Ice Rink on February 21 on the bill topped by Joe Calzaghe.
I was under the impression Delaney was fighting Hull veteran Tony Booth for the vacant WBU super-cruiserweight title at West Ham's Upton Park on January 23. Maybe the Board, who don't recognise the super-cruiserweight division, have vetoed that.

It will be interesting to see if this fight goes ahead, remembering that Delaney has had his problems with making the weight in the past. Also, what was the official reason for him pulling out of the Haye fight? Was it Shingles, or was that just Danny Williams.
I don't mind this contest, remeber Enzo is just a youngster on a learning curve - Gary Delaney was applauded as a credible opponent when it was David Haye in the opposite corner. Both are of similar age and experience (if you count Haye's greater amateur experience).
I do believe the Bruce Scott fight came a little early for Enzo, and while it was one of the best wins of 2003 he still needs to progress slowly. I think Delaney is an improvement on the guys Enzo so far has taken on in defence of the crown. Its a good learning fight, should the WBU sanction it? No, IMO but that is up to them. No fault of the promoter.
I'm still in shock at how the BBBoC refused to allow Castro to fight Enzo, but allow Delaney and his last opponent mind.
