STEVE COLLINS SAYS RICKY ALREADY GREATEST EUROPEAN EVER!

Post by Crew2 »

STEVE COLLINS HAS COME OUT AND SAID THAT NO EUROPEAN FIGHTER IN HISTORY HAS GONE OVER TO AMERICA AND BEATEN "THE VERY BEST" IN SENSATIONAL STYLE BAR RICKY HATTON.

I DONT KNOW WHAT PLANET HE'S ON IF HE CONSIDERS COLLAZO, URANGO AND A SHOT CASTILLO "THE VERY BEST".

HE SAYS MAYWEATHER WILL RUN AND STEAL IT LIKE MCCALLUM DID AGAINST HIM (LOL) BUT THATS IRRELEVANT BECAUSE RICKY'S ALREADY PROVEN HIMSELF THE GREATEST EVER EUROPEAN IN HIS LAST 3 FIGHTS :-?

AND HE SAID IF RICKY LOSES ON SATUDAY HE'D HAVE ONLY LOST THE BATTLE BUT WON THE WAR BECAUSE HE'LL BE THE ONE COMING FORWARD, SO IT'LL BE LIKE A WIN ANYWAY :-?

The lastest point is an interesting one given the American preference for pressure fighters over slicksters.

They love to reward aggression as Adam Smith reminds us every five seconds before doing the attempting a voice over for Tango and Cash.

steve collins is a clown if he considers collazo up there with iran barkley, kevin kelley, evander holyfield or mike tyson. actually, steve collins is a clown period.

i downloaded mccallum-collins the other night and mccallum schools him for five rounds, nearly stopping him in the fifth, then collins starts jumping on him like he did against eubank and wins a few rounds. mccallum is boxing and moving the last round and secure an easy points win. collins is a fornicating clown. the reason mccallum wouldn't give him a rematch is because he beat him by a mile.

Yeah, but this clown beat a btter version of Eubank that Calzaghe, and he did it twice...

Oh, and he did far better against McCallum than Superman Watson did

eubank clearly wasn't mentally right in either collins fight, he was coming out with alsorts of crazy shit like he would have no remorse if he killed collins etc and the 'fight to the death' crap. it just wasn't eubanks in there in those fights, his head didn't seem right.

i seem to remember michael doing better with mccallum than i saw collins do. mccallum against collins looked like being a blow-out for a while. watson was more than holding his own until mccallum body shots, accuracy and shots after the bell took their toll by about the eighth or ninth.

watson was getting through with plenty of shots from the off, but being picked off all the same. he was a counterpuncher forced to lead that night from his team. but you could still see what a talented fighter he was.

Hey mrkh, where did you download Collins-Mccallum from, Id love to have a look at that.

There's no doubt Collins was tough as nails but wasn't the most talented or skillful fighter out there. He caught Ben on the way down but I reckon given his durability be could have troubled Benn at his peak.

As for Eubank, I reckon his frame of mind may not have been right for the 1st Collins fight and that may have cost him victory in round 10. I don't think there was anything wrong with his state of mind for the 2nd Collins fight though, I think he was prepared to do what ever it took to win ... he was just beaten by the better man.

Collins used perfect tactics against Chris both times, Eubank's (very few) punches were clearly of a higher quality inside but Collins' tactics were just perfect.. first fight he laid back waiting for Eubank's long, lazy singles and doubles then would jump on him so for every punch Eubank threw he found two back in his face.. and second fight he kept Eubank on the balls of his feet so he couldn't generate his power, as well as giving him angles to confuse him and making it physical to tire him, it was perfect (devised with Freddie Roach) and Eubank was up for that second one..

So is Lennox Lewis not European then?

On this basis, Steve has lost the plot and most of his quotes are from that idiot Kevin Lueshing and without his permission.

Hatton may have gone to the US and breaten a shot lightweight Castillo, a overated and muclebound Urango and a chinless wonder in Luis Collazo but as yet he hasn't even cleared up his own country and faced the WBC Champion, Junior Witter.

Going to America is not all it's cracked up to be. Remember, our fighters mainly go there because their fighters flatly refuse to come here.

You don't have to go to the US to prove anything. a ring is a ring whereever it is. Would Hatton have gone to Mexico to fight Chavez like Andy Holligan did? No chance.

Hope Holligan got very well paid for that, otherwise he must've seriously pissed someone off.

The hardest asignment ever given to British fighter? Taking on living legend JC Chavez in his home town ( near enough ) in front of 70,000 of his country men..

I doubt Holligan got much more than 20 grand, if that. Ricky's making £20million all-in-all from the Mayweather fight.

Its a shame in the "Boxing Writers" collective orgasm over having a big fight to cover they have forgotten how great the achivements of Lennox Lewis were.

Both Collins and Watson were beaten dreadfully by McCallum. Collins was actually being used by McCallum a warm-up fight for the Watson fight, Collins was a massive underdog but Watson was actually the bookies favourite to beat McCallum.

I do think Watson performed poorly that night, not just because he was fighting one of the best fighters of the last 30 years. And I do think McCallum was in much better shape for the Watson fight than he was for the Bomber Graham fight, kind of like, say, Tyson being in better shape against Biggs than he was against Bruno or Douglas, that sort of thing.

The reason Watson was falling short a lot with shit timing? 11 months of ring rust. But the best Watson wouldn't have beaten McCallum that night, he was too slick and fluid, with pinpoint timing. Not even the Watson who fought Eubank the second time, he'd have been picked off with bodyshots all night...

Floyd doesn't have to keep distance with Hatton's style anyway. Hatton and Collins are laughable to call smart boxing running. He's fighting by throwing shots still so by logic he ain't running.

It's better to treat a boxing match like a chess game.
