I agree, Earl will be too slow and sluggish. Khan will be able to toy with him before the referee calling it off with Earl on his feet. I think this is going to play out very similarly to Mayweather-Gatti.

I agree about the Khan fight, Earl looked worryingly shot to me in his last fights, looks as though his reflexes have gone completely... I can see Khan just overwhelming him with his speed... this is a mismatch really and I hope Earl doesnt get hurt. Having said that I think Khan has some glass in his chin and if Earl can connect clean then he has a chance but I think the only reason this fight has been made is that Khans people have seen Earls recent fights and know that he is a seriously ringworn and depleated fighter....

Earl has been to the trenches, but to be fair, quick, awkward Vanzie schooled him twice. Khan is bigger, faster and taller.

But Vanzie was a gutsy lad.

For all the namby pampering he has had theres no denying that Khan has speed and decent power, Earl, no offense, has always been rather limited and suspect against mobile boxers and the fact is that he is ringworn as hell to be frank. A punchers chance is all he's got really....

And to be fair, Earl is hardly a dynamite puncher. I know obviously Limond wasn't either but unless Khan walks straight onto one it's going to be a painful night for Earl. So i'll go with it being more Mayweather v Gatti than Haye v Thompson

Graham Earl has been in some terrific battles - the sort that shorten careers!!!

A magnificent and courageous bloke who has been in some wars - I firmly believe with the greatest respect Amir Khan will take him apart.

The Katsidis fight was as much of a sustained career shortening beating as I've seen anybody take in a fight that only lasted five rounds or less.

Not the most shot ever but Rich LaMontagne had trouble standing up straight when he fought Enzo Macarinelli. He should not have been sanctioned and if i recall took another beating.

Mike Tyson against Kevin McBride? I can't think of a fighter that has fallen further than Tyson did between the Iron Mike that destroyed Berbick and the one that lost against McBride.

On a domestic note, how about Julius Francis? He seemed to lose all will in the end.

Christ, he even lost to Roman Greenberg. That memory must give big Julius nightmares.

Wasnt Johnny an Olympic gold or silver in 76, with about 350 wins from 365 fights or something like that?

Tyson just seemed completely lacking in will.

As for Francis he had a lot of will in his prime, but Greenberg is much better skill wise than any version of Francis.

The likes of Gatti, Dunne, Ayers looked like they had trouble walking, more physically shot - Tyson was done Mentally.

If you'd followed his career you'd know that just about every fight he's been in has been a war, ...even the 'easy' fights. 29s not young for most fighters, especially when theyre brave sluggers like Graham....

Seriously, ...Tysons been physically shot since the Holifield fights and mentally shot since the Douglas fight....

Not sure John, think he may have been one of the US hotshots who missed the Olympics due to the boycot. But yes think you're right, he was an amazing amateur boxer. And one of the hotest prospects in US pro boxing. Won a world title but suddenly got old overnight it seemed.

Seriously, ...Tysons been physically shot since the Holifield fights and mentally shot since the Douglas fight....

I still think its his mentally shot has affected his physically shot (such as in the training). He didn't look too bad against Golota, Saverese and Etteine.

Hell, even in his sparring session with Correy Sanders - the handspeed was there, the footwork was there and amazingly the head movement was back. ... Could he pulled it off in a big fight? Absolutely not, cause his head isn't in it anymore - not because his body couldn't do it. He looked fantastic for 2 rounds vs Danny - then the mental demons took over (and a lack of traning).

Merely my take.... Yes, even physically he aint as good as the Tyson of 20 years back - no one can say he is... But its a massive difference between Tyson vs McBride and Michael Ayers vs Jon Honney.
