Ridiculous Promercial for Hatton/Mayweather in the US

Post by Eric the Viking »

Golden Boy Promotions has been buying half-hour blocks of time on less-used cable channels in my area [and likely all over the US] for their Hatton/Mayweather infomercial. It begins with clips of the Floydster and the following pompous voice-over:

"He's an undefeated champion who has stopped everyone he has faced..."

WTF? Their definition of "stopped" must be really different from mine.

Typical nonsense.

I still can't get over Audley Harrison being announced as heavyweight champion of the world on the BBC.

JCS over on Current Scene offered this possible explanation-in-form-of-a-question:

"Stopped them from winning?"

Yes, that must be it.

Well, not here - mostly been hanging around in Other Sports, when I do visit. Nice to actually have a big fight to talk about, though.

[I know, Calzaghe/Kessler was big, too, but neither of those 2 had much previous exposure to US fight fans].

It was definitely Goodall when he was defending the WBF. My stomach lurched, I swear.
