Boxing documentary in production.

Post by Tim Grant »

My name is Tim Grant. I am writing and producing a documentary film concerning my grandfather Richie Reed whom was a welterweight boxer in the early 1950's. While the core of the film will be my story of searching for the remnants of my grandfathers career, the rest of the film will contain stories of others fighters and the culture of boxing in that era.

I am new to boxing and know very little history of the sport. I'm looking for suggestions on what to put my attention toward.

To my knowledge there are no documentaries about boxing of the 1950's. This puzzles me considering out of the little I know of boxing it seems that the 40's through the 60's where some of the most exciting times of the sport. If any documentaries of this time period do exist, please let me know.

My goal is to create a film that can succeed with people that know nothing of boxing, and with people that have followed boxing for many years.

Again, any help is welcome.

Tim
