True. But putting on 3 stone takes some doing even at his size. He must have done nothing but sit around watching Neighbours eating pasties since the Gammer fight.

It's such a shame Danny has come in at a ridiculous weight, he has a bit of a man boob on that photo but on the whole doesn't look too bad. What is 270 transferred into stones and pounds? Knocking on 20?

Anyway Platov doesn't look the most taut in the world either, i reckon Danny can still do this job.

No doubt he'd win a mince pie eating contest. You'd think even in his best possible shape Williams would be neck and neck with a guy like Platov so I don't hold out much hope for him coming in like a sack of shit.

Well Hatton manages it and he's about half Dannys size!. I agree though that its disapointing, but maybe he's trained down from 20+ stone who knows?. When was this fight made, ....has he taken it at short notice?...

True, but Hatton whips himself into excellent shape by fight time. Williams seldom does.

I think the fight was made a couple of weeks ago.

My thoughts exactly, mate! In Boxing News, Williams claims to be in great shape for the bout, yet his weight clearly indicates the opposite.

I was pleased for Danny when he got his weight down to 16st 4lbs. I dare say he felt a great deal better off for it, aswell!

Now he weighs 19st 4lbs, which is three stones heavier. He cannot have been training at all. It's a shame people in general, let alone boxers, let themselves down by this sort of thing.

I like Danny - I've met him & he comes across as a nice, genuine person, but when people can't even help themselves, what's the point of anyone else trying to help them?

Last chance saloon for Williams, anyway.

He needs to find a good trainer - he can't keep using Spencer Fearon. Fearon has absolutely no experience on training top-level fighters (his strengths lie in promoting - he put on a great show in the City recently) and Danny needs to be bossed around and watched over otherwise he'll go off the rails (foodwise). Hopefully he can do it tonight and then someone will have to have a word with him and get him to sort his life out.

Danny's such a nice guy and could have been a really great fighter. He likes his home comforts and I've been in the dressing room before he fought Sprott and lost their third fight and he looked in great nick.

Thing is, he's bottom heavy. His legs are really big and it's from the waist down where it all goes and it really affects his mobility.

The Klitschko fight finished Danny really. That was a horrible beating he took that night and I truly wish him all the best because he's as genuinely a nice guy as you can meet. But judging him as the professional fighter he is, he's been a frustrating mixture of great natural talent who's been held back by that lack of real belief.

As an amateur boxer I was great in the gym but couldn't handle the pressure of real competition. I make no bones about it because the ring is the one place where you can't lie. I just didn't have that ingredient that let me go out there and do it. It's the thing that makes me appreciate fighters even more. It's not something you can teach.

Not comparing myself to Danny but I just get that feeling when he fights that unless he's feeling bang on, that little ingredient that turns a good fighter into a really excellent fighter just doesn't come to the fore.

For all that, the night he one the British title when dislocating his shoulder was one of the bravest performances I have ever witnessed. Danny went beyond the call of duty that night and turned it around and for that I will always remember him with admiration. I was ringside that night and I nearly had a heart attack when he found that left uppercut to turn the fight around. It was a truly heroic performance and one thing Danny Williams has never lacked is balls. Can't remember what he weighed that night but his balls must have accounted for about 80 pounds.
