Hatton's much more effectively physically at 140lbs. I thought Mayweather looked much bigger in there and Hatton just basically walked straight in to him and not only smothered his own work, but Mayweather just tied him up and tired him out on the inside and upped the pressure as the rounds went by and Hatton wore down.

Hatton's defence was all over the place. I mean how many clean shots did he get nailed with coming in square on. For all his pre-fight talk about intelligent pressure, well, his ring brain was left in the dressing room or knocked out of him.

The referee was rubbish and totally broke any chance Hatton had of getting a rhythm close up early on, but if you're a truly great fighter you have a plan b.

Hatton's jab was effective early on and if he'd doubled it up when moving forward it A: would have helped him maybe measure some punching distance and B: would have stopped him getting, as PBF said, getting 'checked' as he leapt in.

Mayweather's a fantastic operator. What imjpresses me is although he comes across as a bit of a tit, he is in superb physical condition every time he fights, and against Hatton, for all the anti-Mayweather noise being made in the arena, he just looked so focused. There's no messing once he gets down to business and his concentration and poise is that of a truly gifted operator.

maybe Hatton needs to fight a tomato can first but then the ONLY fight is Junior Witter!

It has to be Witter, maybe have an 'easy' fight first and then fight Witter... its the biggest fight at 140 and will prove who is the best 140 fighter in the UK and the world.... Ricky cant really say he is the best at 140 without having beaten Witter.....

Fight Witter.

Hatton's personality will keep him an attrction, but his pedigree has nosedived. That was one hell of a beating he took late.

Well thats why I'm saying he should go for Witter, ...it would be a big fight and its winnable for him (though I'd go for Witter even more now) and then he should retire. It would be a backward step if he just goes back to fighting 'who are theys' and I think he wouls have painful nights if he goes in against Mosely or Cotto.... and a Delahoya fight would just be a circus act really and would also be painful.....

Witters a bad bad match up for Hatton. Hatton was just countered time and again last night and had no defensive answer and thats Witters game. No Witter isn't Floyd Mayweather but he is fantastic at contering and probably hits harder than Floyd

I agree, that is why Witter has been avoided, but if Hatton wants to be the best at 140 then he has to fight Witter... otherwise retirement is probably his best option...

i expect to see him in at least another big name fight before he retires but i dont think witter will be it

I thought Hatton has always maintained that Witter is beneath him? Problem for Ricky is that he's got an ugly style, so he won't be a great PPV draw now without the unbeaten record.

Imagine if Ottke had lost (yeah yeah - I know

). If he does fight Witter next I can see him losing. There's nobody special at welter who Ricky could beat. D. Hopkins and Juan Diaz are the other two options.
