To be fair Matty Cortez had done his job by the second half of the fight by completely, if nothing else, distracting Ricky every two seconds, and that sickening familiarity of Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky.......bollox.
I swear at times the Rickster was taking shots to the ribs on either side simultaneously.....Mayweather on one side and that fr***ing Kojak lookalike on the other. There was more than a sense that Ricky was fighting two blokes in that ring.

Good post. The referee was behaving like an idiot, distracting Hatton and breaking his concentration. And that unfair point deduction was the turning point in the fight.

But Hatton should have known what he was getting into fighting Mayweather in Las Vegas (remember Mayweather Castillo I?) and so he should have insisted the fight be in Britain, or not fight him at all.

I don't care what their crooked don king record books say, the fight was No Contest - and if things were really fair, the fight should be awarded to Hatton because he was in there fighting against two men, and the ref wasn't even putting on an act of being fair, at one point getting so anxious to earn his pay check that he deducted a point from Hatton for no apparent reason.

Hatton did lose I am afraid, however we have to respect hatton for conceding all the advantages to Mayweather because of his will to fight the best. His ref, his size of ring, his home town etc all incodently advantages that he had when fighting Kosta thats not to say it would have been any different in manchester but you have to respect hattons bollox for taking those risks against such a great boxer.

Just because I don't like Juan Urango (even though I used to, until I found out how bad he really was), doesn't mean I don't like Spanish fighters or non-US fighters. When somebody says that "white fighters are smarter than black fighters" and other things to that effect, perhaps that is being racial, no? I know this guy IS A RACIST from being on another site with him, that he got thrown off from. This guy has came up with such classics as "Wlad would beat Ali" or "Sanders is better then Holyfield" and such other BS. As the same with you, his logic is either race/country related. When people bring up valid points, he fires back with race or just runs off the thread. I like Abraham more than Pavlik, since A.A. is one of my fav. fighters out there. However, I think Pavlik is better than him and will beat him. Anybody that thinks Wlad will blow the doors off from Ali or Sanders is better than Holyfield isn't rooting for the fav. fighter. My whole point is, this site used to be great. I'd come here, have a good debate, and learn something new. Now, oh ,far from it my friend. Now, we get childish debates or people pulling the race card every other second. Oh, you don't like Hatton, well you must be pro-American and hate all UK/Euro fighters. Oh, you like so and so, well you just love black people. Hatton lost, OH, well that's just because the deck was stacked against him. People who always root for black fighters and people who always root for white fighters are not really racist. Personally, I root for exciting fighters of all nationalities and races. My favorites include Pavlik and Holyfield from the US, Calzaghe and Haye from Britain, JM Marquez from Mexico, etc., so I don't care where a fighter's from or what color his skin is. But if someone does always root for fighters of a certain race or nationality, I don't consider him a racist.

What is racist, and what really brings down the quality of discussion in this and other boxing forums, is people hating on fighters because of their race! If someone hates Mayweather simply because he's black, that is racism. If someone is always trashing Hatton and Calzaghe because they're Brits, that's racism. If someone tries to prove every east European fighter isn't really any good because he doesn't like where they're from, that's racist. Being racist isn't about who you like, it's about who you hate.

I've never accused you of being racist, Armageto. I've read your posts on the Klitschko website and elsewhere many months ago, and I thought at that time you were a knowledgable fan and a good poster. When you make comments about "white fighters being smarter", where in God's name did you get that one from? In all, he was just trying to say white people are smarter in general, but didn't have the balls to say it. When you say sometihng like "their kind", it can only be taken one way. He's grouping a whole mass of people together, just for the actions of one person. Long and behold, it would be the African-American race, or just plan African decent in general. Not only was Cortez bent, but, as expected, so were the judges, and they even prepared a special extra-large ring for Mayweather. There should be a rematch in the UK with a specially made extra small ring, and special judges who are Hatton's mates, and a referee equivalent to Joe Cortez. Perhaps they could find one like that in their prison system and let him out on parole to referee the fight.

I think the referee and the judges were almost certainly under orders, but it doesn't make any difference because Ricky would have lost anyway.

My take was that Cortez was breaking them up too quickly but it was a messy, scrappy fight anyway with a constant pattern of holding and hitting. Hatton did the same as he did in the Tszyu fight, rushed in with little method and tried to work his man over. Against Kostya is worked because he was older and could not take the intensity but against Mayweather, Floyd was in prime shape and at his peak and was able to weather the bullrushes and then pick off the static head.

It was unintelligent rushing and it made for a stinker of a fight. Not that i am chastising Hatton at all, he gave his all but paid for a lack of head movement and the ultimate sin, coming in with his hands down and head high with little regards for defence.
