British Heavyweights NOW...

just looking at the ratings for British Heavyweights - eliminating the top 5 because there f_cking DONE and half of them never really were, and then excluding #12 Pele Reid (good fighter) but past it.

are these guys going to step down or be forced to fight an eliminator against some of the up & coming fighters to give them a chance(?), namely big Ian Millarvie whose probably the best of the new comers. What's the future for British Heavyweights, are these kids going to get a chance?

I don't think these prospects are ready yet - but they'll get their chance soon enough... Williams, Skelton et al haven't got much left in the tank.

Chris Burton has good some good reports from people who post on this forum, seems to be moving in the right direction.
having seen Ian Millarvie , i'd put him ahead of Sam Sexton and Scott Belshaw at the moment, but its very early days for all of these boxers. Belshaw has posted on this forum, and said he knows he has alot to learn but is trying as hard as he can to improve himself, also he's still got to get back to fitness after a bad accident.

Gammer is now retired, I still think that John Mcdermott has it in him to win the British title, but can't see him going much further than that

Its hard to say just yet if any of them are ready to step up as none of the ones ranked, say, 6 -15, have fought anyone of note. I'd be very surprised to see any of them in with the likes of Williams or Harrison soon.

It'd be nice to see them square off against each other but we all know an unbeaten record is worth much more money further down the line so will any of the promoters be prepared to take a risk?

Personally i like the look of David Dolan but just wonder if he's a bit too small at only 6'0 and whether he should have tried going pro at cruiser. Derek Chisora looks like a decent prospect from what little i've seen of him, and i think John McDermott has still got a few good fights left in him and hes now the mandatory for the British title.

David Haye will be right in the top 5 if he moves up just on his experiance. At present he is the only fighter I see in the UK with a future

Based on his ametre experiance Tony Bellew may be able to do something although probably not much beond brit euro level based on him as an ametre (although he is young), has anyone seen his 3 pro fights so far (BBN guys)

Oh and I assume with Khan's next fight being in liverpool he mite hype that up.

Tony Bellew has slimmed down to light-heavy for his pro career

I didn't know that but can see looking at his record. Shame I was hoping for Tony vs Tony Bellew vs Booth. Though this question now has nothing to do with the threads title what does he look like?

I've not seen Bellow in the pro ranks, but going by reports he's looked solid and powerful, has improved his speed by dropping in weight.

If you look at the ratings for the light-heavys in the UK, there are alot of boxers just starting out in their pro careers, i think it could be one of the highlight divisions in a couple of seasons.
