Just found this on billy williams

It was 1975. A local man, James Venton, fell foul of Hole. Newspaper reports neglect to mention Venton's offence, but what followed was not about exacting retribution, but building reputation. Hole and a local boxer, Billy Williams, went to Venton's home. The two men dragged him into the street, where Williams held Venton down while Hole ran over him three times with a car. The brutality of the case made the headlines and Venton agreed to act as chief witness for the prosecution. Hole was jailed for seven years for attempted murder. Forty-eight hours later, three men went to the home of Venton's family and smashed four windows. Hole had begun to amass a loyal following.

Not everyones cup of tea and there are bound to be a few nervous people down in east london without him in there corner it will be interesting to see what side of him they portray when they make a film depicting his life RIP Bill the Bomb :bag:

I doubt they'd make a movie about him. If they haven't done a film about Mclean and Shaw, who had a lot of exposure. He (Billy) was only really known in Canning Town and other parts. I'd like to see footage or photos from his fighting days. If anyone has them.

Darcy Delaney put up a link to a good clip of an unlicensed show from years back and Bill the Bomb was there throwing someone over the top ropes and steaming into a few blokes. The link is on boxrec somewhere.

Interesting thread, you wouldn't like to live next door too but their tales make for a good read.
A chap I know retired now, Hoxton boy all his lfe knew Mclean said he could be a real laugh but then just switch into mean mode and that would be it.All in all who wants that around them.

Eddy wrote:Coming from the Barking and Dagenham area, this name always pops up in conversation. Heard so many storys about Billy Willams (aka Jango). That he was a very gifted boxer, but a total "wrong'un" and fell into crime. Been told that he used to terrorise his manor (Newham). Has any one on this site ever got any info on Mr Williams i.e what's he like as a person, and his wear-abouts today? Around this way he's made out to be like the real life boogey man. Not my words
billy(the bomb) williams died about two weeks ago in newham a+e hospital.he is supposed to be getting buried on18/04/12.apparently he had a triple heart by pass a few years ago and he recently had stopped taking his tablets

Bill 'The Bomb' also known as Jango,
bill the bomb was a great character, I met the man a few times, great friend of my families.
sadly the bomb died a few days ago, he's funeral was today and a lot of people turned up to show respect.
he may of been known as not a 'good' man but deep down he was,
may he rest in peace, great boxer.

I know the man, dont know too much about his younger days but in the last 10 years he is just known as a pisshead loon who likes young teenage school girls. He has been on the wrong end of some beatings in recent years.

He is certainly not feared thats for sure, not anymore atleast.

Kenyers and Keith Fuller used to scare everyone to death. If he's been getting beat up now he did plenty himself. Best lad in Edlo is Mark Hudson; doensn't throw his weight about, is sound but will stand up for himself , same can be said for Dave Chater. Both good men.

Only in boxing could a fella who has failed at his job 90% of the days he went to it come on a message board and get praised.
That is, of course, if the job of one boxer is to try to beat the other, as one would expect.
If the job of one boxer is just to last four or six rounds but make sure not to win, then Johnny is wildly successful.
And then we wonder why casuals are turned off the sport...

I think I get praised by people who understand the role I play in fighters careers.
