The £73k in unpaid management fees are his damages for breach of contract (as decided last month) - as Parsons Cross above says yesterday was just an order on both sides' costs. In large cases like this the sides' legal costs are often decided in a separate hearing from the main matter.

If I were Burns and providing he isn't locked into a contract with matchroom, I would be contacting FW cap in hand and apologetic, asking if there were some type of agreement they could come to if he was willing to sign him again.

People give FW a lot of stick but fighters also need to remember the grass isnt always greener, FW protected Burns and did some fantastic match making for him.

Hearn on the other hand stuck Burns in with Terrence (turns out he's awesome) Crawford, even after seeing him struggle with lower level fighters, and from what i hear are now looking to stick him in with someone else he is unlikely to beat.

Why would Fwank want him back? He's been beaten twice, arguably three times, and knocked from pillar to post in his only successful defence! His last bout was on an undercard in Leeds. Fwank can point at Burns as an example of how the grass isn't always greener.

That's a good point mickey but the grass must have been in pretty poor condition on the Warren side of the fence for Burns to even consider a move.

The grass has been paved now though on the other side. And he's paying for new turf on the old one...

Yeah, it's a real shame; Ricky was an overachiever and seems a great fellow. If someone is boxing, headlining as a world champion they ought to get paid. If looks like his career is done and he's up the creek.

Ex pro.boxers who I don't know but will reference seem to have done ok with their

If I was a pro.boxer and I was doing well financially so long as I was earning decent purses good luck to the promoters. When you get to a level where you can self promote that another story.

George Groves seemed to have the right idea not getting bogged down to 1 promoter before Sauerland and luckily he's talented enough to have a bit of leverage when it came to fighting on shows with different promoters,the 1 problem with that is that you can lose focus,which is what some people felt was Audley's problem,not everyone can have that luxury though especially at the beginning of their careers

Parson some folk have speculated joe got paid in the end, citing him and fwank being amicable at ringside last year. I am doubtful but presumably something must have soothed the pain of such a big loss. Do you think he coughed up ? Just curious....
