I get people are missing their fix of live boxing, but this gives us an opportunity to watch or re-watch fights and fighters of the past, and to watch fights from my youth that relied purely on the power of the printed word and a lot of imagination on my part.

Now I can see with my own eyes, it's great. Thank the Gods for You-tube, eh?

Yes, YouTube is a fantastic resource of knowledge and entertainment. Beats 99.9% of all books and makes domestic TV broadcasting totally irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

Just hope Google doesn't get too greedy and kill it with ads/marketing, and more great content keeps getting uploaded.

In the meantime let's all enjoy it. Sky Sports Boxing must be one of the best for boxing. Everything from boxing documentaries, great fight replays to how to box tips from the pros.

I hate the cherry-picking and won't watch it. Parker will knock this old fat man cold in 7 or 8 rounds after giving him a bad beating.

I'd love to see Parker rematch Andy Ruiz... He certainly deserves it.
Team Parker won't want any of that, it was his hardest fight.
Junior Fa would be a live opponent and he's from the same neck of the woods.
I don't want to see Joe flight Lucas at all, he's levels above him.

Nah, the guy who beat him and dropped him hard on his butt was his hardest, even tougher than AJ nearly blanking him

Parker is levels above Fa also. At least Browne would bring the trans-Tasman rivalry which is always popular with us fans downunder

McKean isn't bad tbh. I am a mini advocate of his because he usually gets bashed when he's discussed (because he's usually matched over his head and that's fair). But he's 6'6 and moves well for his size, obviously he isn't going to be a big player in the division but he's still an interesting one to follow. I think he was a national BJJ champ and MMA fighter first, so late to the sport, but not bad considering

My one thing though: he's got that David Price pinhead that is hilariously small on his body. Just get visions of a hard KO when it does happen but so far he's been decent

Yeah Ican respect that. His fight with Jonnie Rice was very entertaining. Rice hurt him with solid shots a few times but he kept going. Rice showed little regard for McKean's punching power but McKean got him in the end. The ref stopped the fight with about 15 seconds left in the final round enabling McKean to retain his '0'.

I think that perfectly illustrates McKean's level. He's not going to progress a lot further but you already said that.

There's quite an interesting heavyweight community developing either side of the Tasman Sea (I appreciate some are campaigning overseas just now) with Parker as king, followed by Demsey McKean, Uaine "Junior" Fa, Lucas Browne, Faiga Opelu, Hemi Ahio, Joe Goodall, Patrick Mailata, Justis Huni, Jai Opetiah, Willis Meehan ...

I don't know far the younger guys are likely to progress but it should make for some interesting local matches down the road.

Yes i know. He's been really inactive I think he had just one fight last year and about the same the year before. I have alluded to the fact that I question how serious he is about the game. I think it's because I liked his dad that I haven't completely given up on him..

While I'm making disclaimers his good friend Jai Opetaia is mentioned on that list. So far he has only campaigned at cruiser and I don't know whether he plans to move up.

Opetai's been impressive, looks a talent. was supposed to have an interesting fight in Belgium vs Bilal Laggoune last year but kept being on and off then never happened. Would like to see him try for titles at cruiser before any HW campaign (he will be very small at hw too).

Opetai is an interesting one. Should chase cruiser for now. But if he falls short at world level he could slot into a domestic heavyweight roll. I’d put him 50-50 or better with all the aus heavies right now I think.

Browne, Davtaev Hope 'Fan-Friendly' Heavyweight Fight Is Rescheduled Soon

Apti Davtaev and Lucas Browne both want their heavyweight fight to be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Dmitriy Salita, Davtaev’s promoter, informed BS.com that he is in the process of trying to make that happen. Russia’s Davtaev (20-0-1, 19 KOs) and Australia’s Browne (29-2, 25 KOs) are remaining ready in hopes that they get a call soon with a new date for a 10-round bout Showtime was supposed to televise March 28 from Park MGM’s Park Theater in Las Vegas.

“I love the fact that I’m able to fight again, to fight in the USA and against a fighter like Davtaev,” Browne told Sky Sports. “He is a very strong and tough man, and it will be two men bashing away in the ring. I feel it will be a very good fight and very fan friendly.”

Davtaev replaced Otto Wallin as Browne’s opponent once Sweden’s Wallin (20-1, 13 KOs, 1 NC) suffered a fractured foot about five weeks before they were supposed to fight. Showtime’s entire card was canceled once the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily shut down the boxing business in the middle of March.

The 6-feet-5, 255-pound Davtaev would’ve fought for the third time in 2020 had he boxed Browne on March 28. He had already scored a knockout apiece in January and February.

“I was very excited about fighting Lucas Browne on March 28 in the U.S.,” Davtaev told Sky Sports. “It was going to be my coming-out party. He is a quality fighter. I was looking forward to the opportunity of showing that I am the new force in the heavyweight division. Training with ‘Sugar Hill’ Steward at his Kronk Gym for the last three years has improved every facet of my game.

“Having such a master coach gives me even more confidence when I go into the ring. He has helped me to utilize my size and power to produce impressive knockouts. I am hoping in the near future I will get a chance to showcase myself against a world-class opponent in Lucas Browne.”

Whereas Davtaev has an established partnership with Javan Steward, the 41-year-old Browne is working with a new trainer, Craig Christian.

“I’ve taken it down to once-a-day training during the pandemic to make sure I don’t burn out and over-train, but to keep active and busy and focused,” Browne said. “I’m in a new gym and with a new trainer, and am very excited about showcasing my skills and making a bang.”
