He's getting 7-figures.. No doubt his highest ever purse and definitely first £1m+ purse..

In all honesty, he HAD to take this bout. Canelo's team called Rocky.. It wasn't any other way around.. He got lucky..

I said before, don't be surprised if Rocky retires after this.

I'm really pleased he's bagged the opportunity, he's a decent lad.

Like most, I fear for Fielding. I suspect a total disaster for the lad, I think he'll freeze and be stopped in the first round.
Definitely his last fight, but anyone would have taken it.

Yeh, Anyone fighting Canelo really will make life-changing money..

It's kinda why everyone wanted the Mayweather fight in his final years.. They wanted to be paid.. Why do you Khan was chasing is? Mostly due to the payday. Don't get me wrong, at the time, people did think he'd give Mayweather problems matching his speed etc.

Mayweather basically handpicked his final opponents.. It's what Canelo will kind of do as well. He will still need to take some risks though.

Berto was paid $4m base purse

Maidana was paid just over $8m for both fights

Canelo earned a base minimum $5m plus $7 Million for Mexican TV rights

Guerrero earned a career-high $3 million base purse
---
Even Cotto was guaranteed a career-best $8 million.

Ortiz made $2 million

Mosley made $7 Million

Marquez made $3.2m plus $600,000 for Mayweather failing to match weight

Hatton made $12 Million
-----------------------------

I don't think Canelo will consistently be able to provide his opponents what Mayweather did, but the better the opponents the more they wil receive.

in my opinion...

rocky is not going to beat canelo on points. canelo is thick set at the weight and will 'mike tyson' rocky to get inside and work the long body.

im afraid, if rocky has a chance, he needs to plant his feet straight away and hope to win the lottery.

Guys, quick question;

If this fight was at MW, and Rocky won, obviously he would be top of the pile on the boxrec list.
But as it is at SMW, would this even change Rocky's world ranking at SMW if he won?

Exactly this. Come out and go for it first bell but doubt he will it’s not his style. He’ll try and box and end up taking a pasting I fear.

I believe Canelo’s rating would decrease slightly as he is moving up but if Rocky beats him, Rocky will likely be at the top of Boxrec.. maybe.. then when Canelo moves back down to MW, he’ll be on less than what he is on today.

Canelo is 28. After this weekend he would have fought:

GGG * 2
Mayweather
Chavez Jr
Miguel Cotto
Amir Khan
Kirkland
Lara
Angulo
Trout
Lopez
Mosley
Cintron
Matthew Hatton
Ndou
Baldomir
Liam Smith
Fielding
