And Joyce.

I think there’s been a few 8 or 10 week periods in the past
where we’ve had this kind of thing before, I think I remember an ITV Chris Eubank Jr one being in there

Who is this 180lb man James?
I don't know, I was trying to find a link, he was on one of those record breaker type programs years back, I'll see if I can find him.
Im primeraley a powerlifter and a huge strength sports fan and I can tell you these are bullshit myths usually. The biggest guys hold all the world records or if they dont only because they didnt try. But you are right in that the tendons and bones get vastly stronger with strength training. If you simply got the muscles mass of the mountain but not the bone and tendon resistence you would injury yourself trying to lift half of what he does. Also you can see that in powerlifting weight categories the weigths usually dont jump that much. I mean the deadlift world record difference between the 110kg weight category and the 140 is like 10kg. I experienced the same thing. My weight havent changed in 3 years but i got a lot stronger.

Interesting to see how sales rank. Personally on main event alone I'd rank them in order of me wanting to watch.
1, Joyce vs DDD
2,usyk vs Chris
3 Whyte vs pov
4 aj vs pulev

I know aj dose great numbers, but I think he will need a me talk undercard considering how much demand there is for pulev

Danny Flexen examines Oleksandr Usyk vs Dereck Chisora and explains why it should be on regular subscription TV

Who’s the A-side?
There is a strong argument to be made that neither man is a proven pay-per-view draw. Chisora was in a Box Office main event in December 2018 but Dillian Whyte and their compelling rivalry were the greater attractions for the rematch. Usyk, meanwhile, opposed Tony Bellew in a ppv headliner a month before Whyte vs Chisora 2. The Liverpudlian had twice met David Haye on the platform whereas Usyk, despite cruiserweight and WBSS supremacy, was making his UK ppv debut. Bellew was the familiar face. So, in essence, we have two ppv B-sides combining to make an A-side.

Market saturation
If confirmed, Usyk vs Chisora will be the middle of three Sky Sports Box Office shows in seven weeks. As allegedly stated in an interview earlier this week, Sky are now ’Competing with themselves.’ The last of these ppv cards, topped by Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev, is wholly justified. Joshua is the unified world heavyweight champion, the biggest superstar in British boxing and a long established Box Office main eventer. The May 2 Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin clash pits two of the planet’s 10 best fighters in the same glamour division and has already been bolstered by a very solid undercard. Chisora, while employing an entertaining style and on a good run of form, has lost most of his biggest fights, while undeniably excellent Usyk laboured in his heavyweight debut. In a period where we have a glut of PPVs, fans are entitled to ask ’Which of these is different to the rest?’

What’s it for?
It always helps to have a prize beyond money, something the fighters are competing for. There will be no major titles at stake for Usyk vs Chisora, and an upset victory over the latter arguably does little for Dereck’s heavyweight standing. Usyk can prove with a win that he can beat a much naturally larger man, albeit with plenty of miles on the clock. Haye vs Bellew set the bar for ppv main events that exist outside of the normal boxing dynamic, but that matched two well-known names, former world champions and extrovert personalities. This does not.

Press Release

Ukrainian pound-for-pound star Oleksandr Usyk will face British favourite Derek Chisora in a colossal Heavyweight clash at The O2 in London on Saturday May 23, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US.

Usyk (17-0, 13 KOs) made the move to Heavyweight after dominating at Cruiserweight, ending his extraordinary spell at 200lbs as the Undisputed king with a phenomenal run of victories in his opponents’ backyard against Marco Huck, Mairis Breidis, Murat Gassiev and Tony Bellew.

The 2012 Olympic Gold medallist began his assault on the Heavyweight division by retiring Chazz Witherspoon in seven rounds at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago last October and continues his bid to become a two-weight World Champion when he faces an in-form Chisora (32-9, 23 KOs).

Former World Title challenger Chisora scored a devastating second round knockout over Poland’s Artur Szpilka at The O2 in July 2019, a year on from his incredible eighth round KO win against Carlos Takam at the same venue, before blitzing fellow Brit David Price in four rounds last October.

The famous Greenwich venue has become a lion’s den for Chisora in recent years, playing host to his last six fights, and the Finchley powerhouse is planning on giving Usyk nightmares in his first real test in the big boy division.

“Boxing in Manchester in 2018 was an amazing experience, now I get to do it in London at the famous O2 Arena and I can’t wait to fight in front of the British fans once again,” said Usyk. “As a Cruiserweight, I reached the highest heights as Undisputed Champion and now I am following the same path as a Heavyweight.

“I expect a real test in Chisora – he is strong, tough and resilient. I recall being an amateur and watching his fight with Vitali Klitschko. It seemed so big and far away. Now I am myself taking a fight against Chisora. I am working hard in my training camp to show a spectacular performance on May 23rd. Dear friends, I will see you soon!”

“WAR is coming,” said Chisora. “Usyk reckons he can step up and survive with the big boys. He may be the Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion of the World but on May 23rd he will find out what it feels like to be hit by a real Heavyweight. He is coming to my backyard, I’m going to remind him exactly why he hid in the Cruiserweight division and also get revenge for my boy, Tony Bellew. This will be WAR.”

“This has the potential to be one of the great O2 nights – a Heavyweight blockbuster that can only be full of drama,” said Eddie Hearn. “Usyk, who has become a UK fans favourite in his own right, did it all at Cruiserweight, becoming Undisputed World Champion in just 15 fights.

“Now he attempts the same feat in the glamour division, with the big boys. Has he bitten off more than he can chew with Del Boy, who has consistently proved the doubters wrong and become one of the toughest, explosive Heavyweights in the game. Anything can happen on May 23, drop everything and don’t miss it!”

“This barn stormer fight against Usyk, the Mandatory Challenger for AJ’s WBO World title, has been talked about for more than six months,”
said David Haye. “WAR Chisora had been written off by all the experts, in reality a couple of years ago people believed his career to be over and many still consider Chisora’s chances of victory on May 23rd as minute, and who can blame them?

“Derek is a fighter with 9 losses on his professional record, who will be stepping in a ring with a former Undisputed Cruiserweight World Champion and 2012 Olympic Gold medallist – Usyk is a fighter found in everyone’s top five pound for pound list. On paper it’s mission impossible, but in reality, WAR Chisora is preparing to bring something Usyk has never seen before, an intensity from a rock solid 119kg wrecking machine, who will bulldoze his way to a victory in his hometown.”

“Oleksandr Usyk against Derek Chisora has all the ingredients for a classic Heavyweight clash,” said Adam Smith, Sky Sports’ Head of Boxing Development. "Can the supremely talented Ukrainian withstand Chisora’s relentless aggression on a red-hot night at The O2? I’ve spoken to Chisora’s manager David Haye who is massively confident that his fighter will topple the former Undisputed Cruiserweight king.

“We know all about Usyk’s class, having witnessed his dramatic battle with Tony Bellew at Manchester Arena – and a certain Anthony Joshua will be keeping a close eye on a potential foe for the future. We’ve got a real Heavyweight line-up in the coming weeks, with Dillian Whyte’s explosive encounter against Alexander Povetkin, Usyk‘s risky showdown with Chisora and then AJ takes centre stage for his huge World Title fight against Kubrat Pulev.”

Tickets for Usyk vs. Chisora are priced £40, £60, £80, £100, £150, £200, £400 and £800 (VIP).

Presale tickets will be available to purchase for O2 Priority Members from midday on Thursday March 12 via The O2 (www.theo2.co.uk)

No way PPV.
A gatekeeper Vs a prospect/contender does not equal PPV.
Let's see if this one can set a record for illegal streaming, because it isn't going to set the world alight for paid viewing.

Not ppv worthy. Should be co-main event on AJ's bill as Usyk is AJ's next opponent if he beats Puleuv.

why would the winners fight each other next?

if chisora fukks up usyk and pulev takes the belts from aj?

that outcome wouldn't surprise me one bit

pulev vs. chisora then next?

no rematch for the golden boy?

what? why?

“So, we get Usyk and Chisora, hopefully in late March, and then AJ and Pulev late May, early June,” noted Hearn. “Then, the winners will square off later this year.”

I think Usyk is the first fighter where it’s cost me more to see at home than in the flesh.

Paid £10 to watch him in the WSB. Costs me double to watch him from home.

Shall be giving this one a swerve.

I wonder how Eddie is going to stack the undercards for these 3 fights to sell them because none of the main events are worth the PPV money on their own

Yeh your’re right. Does anyone do anything Evil Kneivel stuff anymore?
Did anyone else used to get the Guinness World Records for Christmas every year as a kid?

The food bit was the best, there’d be a picture of a friggen pizza the size of a footy pitch. Used to love all that.

Okolie - World Title
Josh Kelly - Maybe
Buatsi - Whyte & AJ
Kell Brook - needs right fight
Callum Smith
Warrington/Galahad
Liam Smith
Hrgovic/Hunter/Bakole/Parker/Fury/Price/Allen
Taylor/Marshall/Harper
Benn/Cash/Fowler/Fitzgerald

Might use Madrimov/Yulessinov.

Would need to be majority of these guys. BJS has Canelo.

Chisora’s statements about fight is realistic, man knows and acknowledges the facts, which is a good thing.

Don’t guess if he has a puchers chance in this one. Yet it is probably what he depends on.

Exactly, nothing wrong with the fight itself but it’s not PPV worthy, promotors are getting fcuking lazy and greedy and completely forgetting about real boxing fans, to be worth paying for it needs at least another 4 or 5 quality, competitive (on paper) matchups of at least British title title level or above, I used to watch every fight going but it’s next day on YouTube for me these days.

Good match despite being ppv. I've seen alot worse PPV and I think we're in for a solid match up here.

Chisora could get the upset if he's still hungry.
