Again I'm not sure that's right. The reports from last year were of BT Sport becoming profitable on its own.

But DAZN would have taken a risk on subscriber loss due to the breaking of the link and the deals between broadband and the Sport, and weren't able to stump up an offer that BT found attractive enough.

They won't keep spunking money on boxing forever. If they can't get all the degenerate stuff like gambling, etc going they will jack it in.

I read a few different articles that said they started BT Sports to stop the flow of people leaving their broadband service. It’s helped them in that sense but when they look at BT Sports purely in isolation it’s fairly heavily loss making and always has been.

Difficult to see where DAZN goes from here, no chance of any other mainstream sport for a while so left with just Eddie's boxing for the UK. No real PPV worthy fights on the horizon to drive up subscriptions either, people like Conor Benn won't do it nor will undercards with loads of womens fights on.
I guess Blavatnik has deep enough pockets to carry on as it is but if they start to cut costs then Eddie will be done for

BT Sports makes "little to no profit" in its own right but is not loss making now. From launch to date it has lost a lot of money though.

I stand corrected then for the last 12 months or so then.

the whole broadband/subscription is huge for them I guess..

People are going to want to save where they can.

DAZN are investing in boxing, will BT/Eurosport invest or just keep things ticking over ?

Sky have the rolling news channel, BT don’t, clearly it’s a benefit to have it, but are the benefits sometimes over stated ?

From today's Telegraph, doesn't look like DAZN had the money to seal the deal if they're wanting compo for lost subscribers, that is a risk all subscription channels face.....

Sources claim Dazn could have sealed a takeover of BT Sport months ago, but had become bogged down in the commercial details as it relentlessly sought better terms.

Every time BT had ironed out a concern thrown up by Dazn, another issue would arise and bring progress to a halt, an insider says.

Among the hurdles were long-term guarantees Dazn wanted from BT to cover the costs of BT Sport if customers cancelled their subscriptions. BT is believed to have refused.

Dazn's deal team is also understood to have miscalculated Discovery's interest.

Eddie Hearn's take - "It doesn't really affect us".

Hearn is delusional if he thinks this does not effect him. He's gone from sky's top boy to the lowest viewed sports service in the UK.

Wonder if the news today of Russia invading Ukraine will have any effect on Blavatnik ? One of his main business partners seems to be one of Putin's men , could get messy

Maybe people should cancel DAZN today. Blavatnik is very close to a number of oligarchs and his fortune came from the Russian oil. Every bit of pressure can help the Ukrainian people.
