MightyWarrior wrote: 07 May 2022, 03:00 I knew Eric in his heyday in the late 80s, where he’d be racing all over country in his motor, camera in the boot plus a load of vhs cassettes, he worked a bit for Frank Maloney as I recall, and was mates with pretty much all the main boys on the UK fight scene, getting tapes for their upcoming opponents, probably free or at cost. I used to exchange with him a lot, but he doesn’t remember now, I think his memory is shot.
He’d trade me tapes of the shows he’d filmed, fighters like Honeyghan, Michael Watson, Benn sparring Duran, that hadn’t been televised, and I’d get him overseas shows for particular opponents that he was after, for home fighters to scout. He’d turn up outside my work & I’d go out and we’d exchange tapes from his car boot …all very Arthur Daley ha ha.
I even filmed a show for him when he had two to cover one night. He complained that I’d spent a lot of show filming the ceiling, although to be fair a friend of mine boxed that night and got knocked cold in 30 seconds, so i was probably in shock

He’s a good lad, bit brash maybe & winds some up , but his hearts in the right place. Sorry to hear he’s hit the skids, times are tough, I got laid off in the pandemic too, after 30 years work, getting by on a wing and a prayer.
The Benn and Duran sparring is on YouTube and has 475k views on somebody's channel so they've done well out of it.
I put that up,me and a friend about 13 years ago hahaha,my mate got a message off Eric saying it was his copy and to take it down lol think my mate has the 400odd thousand views

Someone changed the title of my OP. You said you joined the threads so assumed it was you. Now it’s been changed back.
I haven't changed anything all I did was merge the 2 topics.
Ok fine but someone changed the title to ‘Let’s all kick Eric when he’s down’

Are you pretending that you never knew that happened?
Now I know what you mean. When you merge 2 topics the title is changed to the first topic chosen, so I clicked on this titled topic to begin with then selected the other topic which had another title, the one you say. Once merged the topic title becomes the one selected first.

Hope that clears it up.

Was it a mod that split it?

I wasn't aware there were 2 topics until yesterday when I made a comment on one of them last night.

I don't think a mod split it into 2. Someone made both topics

I’m sorry it’s fair enough to ask questions. There are a lot of scams around. I once gave £50 to help someone and it was revealed days later as a total scam. It was in the papers. I never got the money back.
And this sounds well dodgy. Just cos he’s a boxing person doesn’t mean he’s trustworthy.

Seems like he's raised the money or close to it , of what he needed to pull himself out the shit , pay his rent arrears some debts ect . ... But help could still be needed ,, its obvious he does'nt get benefits because his wife works , which suggests her wage although maybee not bad , is not enough for them to manage..

I sort of wish he lived near me , i could throw him a couple days work a week even though i'm retired i still do bits and peices when i feel like it , and thats what he needs , a job or a bit of part time work ,, or a couple days a week cash in hand , he's suffering but still capable , and a bit of work would help him , plus improve the mind and help with the depresion thats obviously settling in ,, Anyone know anyone who could give him some work would be a great help ,, Otherwise it will be another fund me page in 2 years .

Tip for anyone else looking for work has you get older ,, drop your prices accordingly . I'm not silly i know i cannot do has much, lift has heavy , or run has quick up ladders, has i could at 30 , in other words i cannot give the same output in work has i used to , so if asked to do a job , IF i quote it and thats a big IF usually i pass it on to someone else , but if i quote it i know it takes me longer now so its simple ,, I don't charge the same I will look at the job and say days gone ny that was 8 hrs work , now its probably 2 / 6 hr days , so i only charge for 8 hrs , its simple i dropped my rates i cannot fairly expect you to pay more becuase i've got older and slower , and guess what my phone does'nt stop ringing quite often people are desperate for a good job done cheap , ,,, Being older does'nt mean yor decrebid just means your usually slower .

Eric really needs a bit of work to help financially and mentally , if anyone can help in that dept

Too be honest , i did'nt and never would donate money , it will only help temporaraly ,, what he needs is help from people such has yourself , especielly getting a council house ,,, Maybee i'm a bit to black and white in my thinking ,,, but it comes from the fact i grew up on a council estate , with 99% of a BIG BIG familly all being jailbirds and unemployed , money was always tight but they always seemed to have plenty for smokes and booze .... I was a throwback i actually wanted to work and hence forth got on and done well ,

Now when it came to work i spent the last 40 years or so working has a contractor for social housing , (builder ) and have spent all that time working on predominatly unemployed peoples houses paid for by the govt and one thing i always shook my head at was most seemed comfortable if they lived accordingly Ok holidays abroad 3 times a year were out the question , but by and large most recieved enough benefits to live life and pay bills ,,, I sort of fail to see how anyone can really be in this position unless they cannot manage money ,

Britains welfare system compared to say Australia is fantastic ,,, Jeezz they even gave my old man a car my mother was severly disabled after a stroke , they had no trouble getting council houses , there pension , him a carers allowance to look after her , , and a bloody car they gave him so he could transport her around and that lazy bastard did'nt deserve it he never worked a day in his life .

Not kicking him when he's down , but a job and help with the govt paperwork from someone like yourself is what he needs not handouts , ,
