It was supposed to be Collins the champ v JC, so that showed confidence, then Collins retired leaving it vacant, so FW worked his magic and gave Eubank the shot(he had had an inter pentanental fight on the undercard)
With JC, I'm sure you remember the sick note nickname, I think FW was more worried about investing in a big fight and JC pulling out, around that time the Welshmen had plenty of women probs too.
I heard after the Thornberry fight that the ex accepted less money, and nothing on future earnings, than she was originally asking as she thought he was done.
Apparently JC was well chuffed that he went to on to earn the big money afterwards as she got none of it!

But in terms of the fights that happened, I'd say Hamed has long been FW's standout in confident matchmaking.

I think we'd all be happy with Itauma-Wardley, but can't see them risking derailment at this point in their ascendant careers. They can easily avoid each other without looking like they are.

Jalolov really needs to get going soon, otherwise he'll end up losing to age and people will say he was never that good.

I get the feeling Jalolov has had enough of boxing and isn’t really interested in a pro career. He’s earnt millions as an amateur prob might even go for gold number 3. Amateur so much kinder on the body than the pro game

jalolov is a national sporting hero who hangs with all sorts of big shots in uzbekistan - president, rich business people, etc. being the big fish in the ams for him has been the easy going high life. for the last olympics, uzbekistan gave gold medalists a bonus of $200,000 USD, a Chevrolet Tahoe, and an apartment. he'll have been getting plenty more than that with all his other accomplishments and national status too

does seem like there is a half hearted attempt to be a bit more active in the pros, he had a few dates fall apart after opponents withdrew. if they had gone ahead he actually would have had more than 1 fight in 2025

shame because he is very talented, naturally huge southpaw with good movement, power, accuracy. although not sold on his chin, has had the timid wlad k hugger look at times

I guess someone needs to tell him that as heavyweight champ in the pros he theoretically can make 100x that in one fight rather than 200k once every 4 years

some people are just happy taking the easy route to be comfortable, i get that impression with him

That cut looked pretty meaty Sean. I think at least 8 weeks, maybe a bit longer.

Brandon Moore: Moses Itauma has yet to be tested

Brandon Moore has his sights set on DeAndre Savage next and Moses Itauma in the future.

Moore faces Savage at Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit on September 19. The bout will be broadcast on DAZN.

Moore, 31, believes that Itauma’s first-round knockout of the faded former contender Dillian Whyte isn’t as impressive as it seems.

“You fight someone who is 37 years old, of course, you are going to beat the old man, unfortunately,” Moore, 18-1 (10 KOs), told Boxing Scene. “These English polite guys come get your ass whooped by an American heavyweight. He is fighting these slow English guys who are polite.”

“These guys are boring heavyweights,” Moore said. “They give me Klitschko vibes.”

Moore also believes Itauma, the 19-year-old with a record of 13-0 (11 KOs), has yet to be pushed, and is eager for the chance to do so.

“He hasn’t been tested, and I want to be that test,” Moore said. “I am ready to see what he is about.”

Moore, of Lakeland, Florida, began boxing as an adult. He admits he is still learning, but the former college basketball player has put his competitive drive into boxing. He entered the sport with a mindset of facing the most formidable fighters he could. Moore had strong words for Savage ahead of their bout.

“I am going to make this fight look real easy,” Moore said. “I want to be known for taking the hard fights. I take the best fights I can, and my resume proves it.”

Savage, 10-0 (10 KOs), is a big puncher who is looking to step up in competition. Savage, a 34-year-old from Flint, Michigan, has won all of his bouts by knockout, except for a September no-contest to KeShawn Jackson in his hometown. Moore credits his recent wins over Stanley Wright and Sklyar Lacy to the experience he gained in a loss to Richard Torrez Jnr last year.

“I have been fighting for seven years just gaining experience,” Moore said. “The Torrez fight really set me up to beat these last two undefeated fighters.”

Moore believes that if he keeps winning, a fight with Itauma will get made. He explained why.

“It is going to get made, because as long as I say I want it,” Moore said. “If he doesn’t take it, that means he is ducking the fight.”
