The rematch should be majorly because of the sh!tty scores. It was either a draw or close dec for Lopez, but it was too wide.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Jun 2021, 07:08 Loma had no rematch clause, but put a beat down on a mutual opponent.
Has earned that rematch.
This was the way of boxing years ago. Not just getting blasted out in a few rounds and then getting a rematch because it was in the contract.
Loma gave Teo waaaayyy too much respect.
Agreed he deserves a rematch, but back in the day champions almost always got rematches and that was before rematch clauses. Even now, the clauses are just for voluntaries unless the champ is a massive name.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Jun 2021, 07:08 Loma had no rematch clause, but put a beat down on a mutual opponent.

A big part of the reason why Boxing is less popular than it used to be. (Many reasons, but that surely don't help)Onetimeonly wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 08:35Agreed he deserves a rematch, but back in the day champions almost always got rematches and that was before rematch clauses. It's just annoying because they only fight once or twice a year at the top now.
They’re overpaid. They make enough money one fight for the year..Onetimeonly wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 08:35Agreed he deserves a rematch, but back in the day champions almost always got rematches and that was before rematch clauses. Russell literally just fights a mandatory every year.
I think most people were surprised to see Teo rack up that many early rounds, I know I was.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 08:15Loma gave Teo waaaayyy too much respect.
He didn't do crap in the first 7 rounds, basically handed them to him.
^^
Seem's accurate.
Didn't land double digits til round 8, it ws too late.
When he did turn up, he was dominant.
Sometimes the smaller venues are the best ones.Alguiffer wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 18:00 Long time boxing pal of over 60 years Frankie La La and I made the trip out to Vegas to see this fight. We had seen many fights in the past at this venue when it was the Joint of the Hardrock. Venue is now called the Theater under new owner Virgin and no changes were made to the venue layout(venue is very small with great sight lines for every seat - even from the balcony). The chance to see Loma in a venue like this was too good to be true. We sat third row ring side and had a good view of Nakatani's corner. We both felt this fight should have been stopped by the corner/doctor after the seventh round. Nakatani took a real beating in round nine. Lopez's old man was in the house and wants a rematch in Madison Square Garden.

It not only put him in solid shape on the cards, it also gave him a huge boost in confidence and belief that he could actually pull it off.
Once Lomachenko got going he had success, perhaps he misjudged just how many rounds in the fight to give up and had dug himself a hole he just couldn't get out of.
The rematch seems to be a no brainer and just a matter of when, guess we'll have a better idea come August 14th.
The event is currently advertised to air at 2am (UK time) on the 15th August via Fite TV.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑30 Jun 2021, 06:13August 14?Evander wrote: ↑29 Jun 2021, 22:58I think most people were surprised to see Teo rack up that many early rounds, I know I was.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 08:15
