What I saw was a Brit being soundly beaten and I felt sad. I suggest if you felt the opposite you should be ashamed of yourself.

If you walked into my local boozer in Carron (somewhere in the middle of glasgow, edinburgh and stirling) wearing an england top, during a scotland vs england game, i genuinely believe you would be welcomed in and suitably abused, in a friendly manner of course.
it goes with out saying that there are many boozers across the country where this would not be tolerated, but that is the case north and south of the border....and apparently in norway, for some strange reason. everywhere has pubs where you may not be welcome for a variety of reasons, i tend to try and avoid frequenting such shitholes.

i'm assuming the "he got what he deserved" statement implies the lad got a hiding. in which case, that is not acceptable for taking the piss out of someones football team and if you took part in that and think it's acceptable, that, in my book, makes you a thug. (england fans living up to their stereotyped reputation?).

you also say you got fed up with the A.B.E bullshit so you decided to..........join in!

it's rivalry, it makes football more fun. we clearly both know numerous people from the other side of the border and can still get on with them. taking the piss out of each others football team doesn't stop that. rugby fans have a more civilised version of that rivalry, but they still don't want to see their rivals win. no one gives them any stick
too big a deal is made of the A.B.E thing. it's just one team wishing their rivals to fail. if i was an england fan, i'd see it for what it is. jocks with no team of their own to support in a tournament so they pick 4 of their own....the ones england play up until their inevitable second round penalty defeat. then we get something to celebrate.

as for football bringing out the nasty side in people. i couldn't agree more and scotland has one of the worst problems regarding this when it comes to biggotry and sectarianism.

but don't think boxing i squeeky clean. many a boxing crowd turns into a brawl. and i wouldn't be surprized if the mitchel vs burns fight becomes an ugly example of that

Amir Khan gets his fair share of stick because he's arrogant. There is a minority that dislike Khan due to his ethnicity, and that shouldn't be tolerated. It's sad and moronic to be against him because of his roots.

Personally, Khan seems a decent lad to me. He can be a bit of a tool at times, and inflated, but he does what he does. He comes to fight and is never in a dull fight. Not sure why you would dislike Khan as a boxer. His attitude might get on your tits, but you should look past that. He is defiantly one of the most entertaining boxers at the moment so I'll sit back and enjoy watching him, knocked out or not.

It's a touchy subject this one. We all know how it is in our own heads. The fact is we are currently facing a threat from that side of the world at the moment, so it is natural for people not to like it when they see the Pakistani flag. The guy never got a kicking. He was huckled out of the bar by the bouncers for causing aggro and his shirt was ripped from his back.

He was pretty out of order during the game, and even managed to insult a few Brazilian girls, one of whom abused him back with the classic "You can meet my father when he next over, he dentist and he fix your teeth"

There is trouble at boxing, no doubt about that, but from a supporters perspective I dont think you get the A.B.E approach that we see in football and vice versa.

I agree that Burns v Mitchell could be a bad one. Proper culture clash there.

i'm lead to believe mitchell has a bit of a chav following, at least i think i remember reading as much on here (no offense intended if you are a mitchell follower) and he's fighting a lad from coatbridge in glasgow, add in the scottish vs english bit and the fact that boxing crowds do occasionally get a bit rowdy and you have a bit of a powderkeg there.

your right to be fair, there is a way to make certain points,
half through the thread, i pointed out that racism is a reason for many people dislike of amir (of that i have no doubt),
but was careful to point out that i would not level that accusation at someone over the internet without very good reason. there is no way of guaging someones motives for saying certain things, you cannot make assumptions and you know absolutely nothing about someone but thier user name and what they type
