Froch edges it IMO.
I'd say more than edges it based on that.
Based on that maybe but it's highly favourable to Froch. Fails to mention that Hatton was #1 in the division, Froch never has been, he made 5 defences, not 2, Castillo, Malignaggi and Lazcano were all for the Ring/Lineal title. If Groves is on Froch's list of wins, why aren't Maussa and Urango on Hatton's? Both were world champions at the time he fought them. Whether Froch avenged his defeat to Kessler or if it was a war doesn't really matter, he still lost and the version of Kessler he beat was a couple of levels below the one he lost to. At the same time I don't think Hatton's popularity should come into it, it isn't necessarily a reflection on the ability or achievements of a fighter.

Popularity should come into it if you're talking about a career as apposed to a ability or achievements but it's not the most important factor by a long stretch.

I wasn't purposely leaving out names on Hatton's record to make Froch's career look better but I just feel the names listed for Froch are more notable than Maussa and Urango although I admit this could be because they're fresher in the memory.

Being number 1 in the division is irrelevant. Are you trying to say being number 1 in the HW division today is worth more than being number 2 or 3 in the MW Hagler/Hearns/Duran/SRL days? Froch is number 2 to a boring but very talented fighter who would beat most SMWs of the last decade or so.

And Froch Kessler being a war 100% matters. On paper, a loss is a loss, but in reality losing in a close battle compared to getting outclassed and KOd are looked upon very differently. Yes Floyd and Manny are a level above but Kessler was still a top fighter.

I think both careers are/were top class, I do think Froch's edges it but that's just my opinion.

Admittedly I've not watched it back properly since watching it live, but I thought Hatton lost to Collazo.

I remember thinking the early knockdown probably got it for him.

It probably showed how significant his weight, size and strength advantage at 140 was though. Collazo has never been anything special but he gave Ricky plenty to handle that night.

Can we not just agree that Hatton & Froch were/are world class boxers who have fought the best fighters they could and beaten most which has keept British boxing in the spotlight for a good number of years?

I couldn't care less about the minute details on who has the better record because blah, blah, blah. When Hatton fought, it was an event that got people talking and Froch has done the same for the last few years :TU:

:salut: You do speak the truth. However I would like Froch to get a little less stick just because he's not the best on camera. Every picture posted on Twitter/Instagram, every Youtube interview, every relating forum thread people like to bring up how much of a c*nt they think he is. A lot of people seem to genuinely dislike him which means some downplay is achievements. I don't see it myself, says some stupid things but who cares!

I am a fan of them both equally. Been brilliant for British Boxing. Hatton was a phenomenon

I think the fair point is made about Hatton being the #1 in the division. His one win over Tszyu was better than Froch's multiple wins.

Hatton was number 1 when the division was pretty red hot also.

How old was Tszyu when Hatton beat him? Also Ricky didnt fight Cotto, etc, when they were about at the same time.

Disagree, being number 1 in a division is all relative to how good the division is. SMW during Froch's career has been hotter than LWW during Hatton's but that's just my opinion, no way of proving that. Plus Froch is number 2 to Ward. If there was a fighter of Ward's skill in LWW during Hattons time, Hatton would likely be number 2 also. Again, no way or proving that.
