Froch on sky
Bit weird having Carl ringside for Groves tonight. Keeps talking about himself and his fight with Groves and how he exposed George. Surely not the best person to have ringside

He's being a bit harsh on old Grovesy. Mind you, suppose it makes a change from the gushing we hear from others... and by, 'makes a change' I mean the exact fvcking opposite.danconnollyeire wrote:Bit weird having Carl ringside for Groves tonight. Just goes to show why so many think Froch is a bellend
Re: Froch on sky
That's a little unfair though mate. Groves since the loss has kept saying he's still better than Carl and so on, etc. It's not like George has been totally humble about things either.thepocketrocket wrote:Just goes to show why so many think Froch is a bellend

Re: Froch on sky
I agree but if you get Froch ringside for a Groves fight, all you're gonna get is 'I'm better than Groves'. It's like having Rooney commentate on Arsenal vs Spurs going 'good goal but Man U are better'. Not relevantlefty wrote:That's a little unfair though mate. Re: Froch on sky
Just Froch being Froch.
Re: Froch on sky
Didn't think he liked Nelson talking about the gymnastics
Re: Froch on sky
Exposed is a bit strong, don't think Froch showed us anything we didn't already know about George.
Re: Froch on sky
carl was a bit of a bellend tonight. he said george groves would lose to abraham, but smith stands a good chance!!!!!!groves beat smith in two rounds years ago!
Re: Froch on sky
Froch is a bit of a bell end to be fair He was going on about having rematches if it's 1-0 or something like that then he starts mentioning Kessler but never once mentioned Ward.
Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but for me Froch should be shouting the house down for the Ward fight. Makes him look a bit of a phony

Re: Froch on sky
Na he was saying if him against George was 1-1 then a third fight would be in play but with it being 2-0 it's not worth it.Ian1973 wrote:Froch is a bit of a bell end to be fair He was going on about having rematches if it's 1-0 or something like that then he starts mentioning Kessler but never once mentioned Ward.

I agree with that bit but he also mentioned a third fight with Kessler without mentioning Ward. That is the only blemish on his record. If that were me I'd be banging my head against a wall continually until I got that rematch.

That's a pathetic attitude for a champion. The only time they fought he lost but it weren't a demolition by any means. Ward gets a bit over-rated.

Re: Froch on sky
Just too slow for Ward, and he won't have speeded up in the last few years.Ian1973 wrote:thepocketrocket wrote:

He would rather fight the corpse of Kessler in a one side 'decider'.
Re: Froch on sky
I dont think any of the current super middles beat Ward though as boring and ugly as his style is at times. Andre Dirrell is the one that I think could of made it interesting with his sheer speed and also good skills but nobody else I can see doing it.Ian1973 wrote:thepocketrocket wrote:

Re: Froch on sky
This a George Groves group cry-wank thread ?
I thought you lot would have more important stuff to discuss, like how deteriorated he was, and what a helmet he came across begging for a third fight whilst wearing a giant cap and 'Beats by Dre'
#AndTheTrue
Let's compare their comeback fights against Abraham and Bute, how they ended - and put them alongside Rebrasse.

Re: Froch on sky
I only watched the Groves fight so didn't hear too much of what Carl said.
The bit I heard he said Groves is good at dishing out punishment but not great at taking it, kind of almost downplayed his own great punch and finish by saying Groves hasn't got the best chin.
Best thing Carl could have done would just be really gracious to Groves, say he's still a great fighter blah de blah, after all that reflects well on Froch's performance also. I don't think there's any real danger of Froch-Groves III so I don't really see the need for any further beef between the two.

OK I just saw the post-fight interview from groves. Deluded doesn't even cover it. The cap and the headphones just give extra weight to the fact that he's a deluded little boy. He needs to grow up and get on with his career now and stop chasing Froch for paydays.
Yes his band of London followers booed Froch, but I can assure you 'oop North' people think Groves is a prick and are bored of his cocky Cockney bravado. Get a title, fight some meaningful people at World level and then call out Froch if he's still around, cos to be honest, it's really boring!!

Re: Froch on sky
This is an odd one because, as a northern lad said to me in a bar before the rematch, froch isn't a northerner anyway. Nottingham is in the midlands.TheCobra wrote:OK I just saw the post-fight interview from groves. Deluded doesn't even cover it. Don't speak on behalf of northerners mate, that's crap. I was at Froch-Groves 2 with a big group of pretty neutral Manchester lads who all ended up mildly disappointed cause I think deep down we wanted a Groves win.TheCobra wrote:OK I just saw the post-fight interview from groves. I'm a northerner and can assure you that all my mates think Froch is the prick with the way he talks. When asked about the Degale fight, he came out with 'an Olympic champion against a legend of the sport' - is he for real? He may have a fantastic resume but anyone who describes themselves as a legend deserves knocking out.
Groves may be playing the hype job but you sense he does respect Froch, and his opponents, and also recognises his own flaws. He did outbox Carl for a lot of both fights, I don't think a third is warranted at 2-0 either, but Groves still went up in my estimation as a result of the two fights.
If you're gonna walk round calling yourself a legend but dismiss the fact that there's another guy in your own division that beat you and is head and shoulders above you - you're a prick.

I wouldn't class Nottingham as the north. Southern, if anything.
