Ive already mentioned the amount of fights to what BBBoC have. Thats not the issue. The human being is living longer thats a fact, this is because we are medically better than our counterparts 100 years ago. You just cant stop a man from doing something because of his age, IF he is medically of sound mind. Boxing is a hard dangerous sport we all know that but times are changing for the human being. Times have changed for other human beings but im not going down that route.
Ok you make some valid points but as the vast majority on here know Nigel benn was a great fighter in his prime years which were nearly 30 years ago he was shot when he wisely called it a day 25 years ago do you think the rest he’s had is going to turn the clock back to put him back in his pomp ? Time waits for no one I just hope Nigel doesn’t get hurt
Absolutely not no. But is that a genuine reason for not allowing him? Its like telling your 60 year old dad that he cant run the London marathon because he is 60 but fit. Benn has to take the consequences of his actions like we all do. The doctor says yes so let him go.

How many bouts have they sanctioned thus far?
Do you really think a GP is going to pick up subtle changes in brain or nervous system function?
[/quote]
To be licensed by BIBA (and any other pro governing body) boxers must passed all the standard pro-boxing medicals (MRI Scan, Blood tests etc), boxers don't just go to their GP for a check up.... haha

Not a clever move by Benn. I am surprised he is not fighting an opponent nearer his age.
Would Steve Collins not have been offered this given all of his comments in the past few years about wanting such a fight?

I just don’t see how they’re going to sell out the nec tbh

Cmon that’s a pretty dumb analogy. Your grandad running a marathon is not getting punched in his skull

No but hes putting strain on his heart. Just the same.
You are missing the point really.

If he's past the medical tests , feels fit enough to do it , wants to do it , and above all got promoters stupid enough to do it , along with public silly enough to pay for it ,, Then who's to say no ,, Let him do it ,, would'nt bother me in the slightest , because he simply will not get any of my hard earned retirement fund , , Just to supplement his . He earnt plenty if he's broke he should of spent more wisely , If he's not , its just ego cos his son is doing it , so really ,, WHO CARES , let him do has he wants , he's a grown man , he gets hurt he knew the risks , and he obviously thinks the financial rewards out weigh the risk

Running a Mara at your own pace and fighting a bigger, younger, ex WBC champ are incomparable

If Benn had any respect for the sport he'd stay away from getting back in the ring.
From a medical view point, he really shouldn't be fighting again. The recovery his head & body has from taking blows in a competitive contest will have been reduced with age. Not sure what tests any boxing authority can do to prove that, but he was finished when he belatedly hung them up back then, let alone now. Ridiculous and embarrassing.

Come on, you can't compare a 60 year old running a marathon with boxing? if im 60 I run at my leisure. Boxing is completely different. anyone that has boxed will tell you, even a half decent punch by a younger, stronger and quicker youngster can double you up. If Benn takes on Bika and Bika is half the fighter and goes for it Benn could be in trouble.

The fight has been widely condemned. allegedly, who promoted Benn at both the beginning and end of his career, said there is no way it should go ahead.
“He needs saving from himself,” said allegedly, who promoted Benn for most of his professional career. “I feel very sad that he feels the need to do this.
“He retired a long, long time ago. He may be back in the gym and he might feel good, but a fight is a whole different thing. The Board said no and people should not be confused into thinking this is a properly-sanctioned fight. 55-year-olds should not be boxing. Anyone around him who cares about him shouldn't be letting this go ahead.”
Eddie Hearn, who promotes Benn’s son, Conor, said that Benn approached him two years ago with a plan for a third fight with Eubank.
“I have too much respect for Nigel Benn to criticise him,” Hearn said. “He must have his reasons for doing it, I don’t believe it is just money. So what are they? Competitiveness? Curiosity? Boredom?”
"He was always going to fight Eubank. That was always going to be the big comeback fight. Whether you like it or not, Benn and Eubank would have been a big deal. But Benn against Sakio Bika in Birmingham?
“If it is Sakio Bika, I don't like that fight. He is still a right handful, he is strong, he can punch. He is horrible with his head, he is dirty.”

Again you are missing th epoint. Benn is an adult he if passes the regulated tests should not be punished by his age. Its ageism. Benn has passed the tests which are the same as BBBoC so he should be able to do as he wishes.
Also yes you can compare running a marathon to any other sport regarding its health issues.
There are a lot of fit young men to die running a marathon.
Benn is an adult. He knows the consequences.

Bika was not the first opponent Benn looked at, but Chris Eubank was “a messer,” wasting time and not now being a person Benn wants to talk about. Steve Collins, the last man Benn fought, back in 1996, losing twice in a row to the Irishman, made too many demands, of a finacial nature mostly, Benn said today. While Roy Jones Junior asked for “silly money.” “He wanted ten million,” Benn said, either referring to £pounds or $dollars.

Tickets now on sale Cheapo seats start at £50.80 and go to £881 for ringside.
Im actually quite surprised on the ticket prices I thought you would be able to buy a cheapo from about £30.
Obviously the boxers want a big part of the pie here. It could well look like my estimation of Benn getting around £30k is way off the mark.

Nah.
I’m not onboard with this and I won’t be watching.
I assume like others that Bika understands that he is in for a move around and will presumably lose widely on points.
Feeling fit and being ready to fight a legit contest is not the same thing.
To box professionally at any level one has to be an idiot to start with so saying ‘he knows the risks’ is irrelevant.
I understand that people have said a number of times that BIBA medical regulations are identical to BBBoC however that simply isn’t true as can be evidenced by boxers being turned away from the board on medical grounds and then boxing BIBA. In addition Jody Meikle has stated in the past that he has boxed on BIBA shows with no medical or brain scan of any kind.
As a side note, Joshua has put down plenty of people only for them to get back up, including Ruiz.

Its quite sad listening to the Benn interview there. 'closure'.
Unfortunately Benn is an adult of sound mind. But heyho its money v risk and im guessing money will be the better option of the 2.
