Liam Williams seems to have every world class atribute, sharp fast punches, great power, nice compact form, great punch variety, excellent vicious finisher, defensively sound, technically sound, moves well, whatdo you think his weakness htatkeps him from world class? No heart for a really puzzling right if he can pic his man down, gets a bit gunshy when hit??
He's far more explosive and bitter than Liam Smith for example, but he just seemed to lose the fire
When he couldn't finish him
Victim of own success, used to knocking guys out?
i would say, vs a legit world class opponent in andrade, willams did not show world class speed, was not defensively very sharp, didnt move particularly well etc. the uppercut could hardly miss him and he didnt cut the ring particularly well. he did land a couple shots which buzzed andrade , and i think the pop is there, but not the whole package
he is a really nice offensive fighter, and this is especially noticable vs guys he can hit regularly, hence the beastliness at british level, but he seems to have a slight front runnerness to him where he just doesnt put it together and falls apart a bit when the other guy can stand up to him
Andrade is a nightmare style for him granted and he was very disappointing, but Williams has so many tools, who's his trainer

Has this been officially cancelled?
If so gutted!
First live fight in ages - and a guaranteed cracker this would have been.

Gutted too.
It was a perfect match.

It's all about levels and Andrade was a level above Williams boxing wise.
It was always going to be tough for the Welshman and tactically he decided not to try and outbox him, but to walk him down and out rough and tough him.
Unfortunately he wasn't able to slip enough shots and to apply enough pressure but gave it his best shot.
Dom Ingle is his trainer and Williams was prob the first Ingle fighter in history to go for almost Kamikazee tactics!
They made a tactical decision it is what it is.
I am sure he would have done things differently against Eubank, different fighter, different tactics.

Looks like it’s true. Williams hasn’t posted on social media for two days. Gutting. He sounded dead up for it on Saturday as well.

Was there not a presser yesterday? Wonder why no confirmation.

It takes time to sort things. If they just say the fight’s off then everyone holding a ticket will just get a refund. They need a plan before they make an announcement so they’re probably scratching around trying to get a replacement.
It’s a tough spot for the show - they put it in Cardiff for Williams and the fight itself to sell tickets. Without that it’s a struggle. Eubank vs some unknown European isn’t going to shift many tickets and I can’t imagine the guys from Caerphilly/Newport etc. coming over to see Eubank vs an unknown and Claressa Shields.

They should pull it and reschedule if Williams isn't fit. It's an awful show otherwise, they won't get a good replacement for Williams and if they did Eubank wouldn't fight one.

I don’t disagree but they won’t pull it as they’ll want to keep a show for December.
They’ll be scrambling around for an opponent for Eubank and will be looking to see what else they can add to strengthen the show.
Unfortunately there aren’t loads of quality Welsh fighters at the moment for them to try and get on there.

Williams sounded like he was desperate for the fight. He must have flown back to Sheffield after the presser and got injured on the same day.

A few people are reporting the fight isn’t cancelled. Rob Tebbutt said he’s spoken to 2 people involved who say the fight isn’t cancelled so let’s see.
Perhaps Williams has a knock but is looking for ways to make it through.
If the rumours were completely untrue then I would have expected someone to come out and address the reports by now.

Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff holds 5k capacity.
Surely this fight would have sold 5k tickets.

It would have easily enough I'm guessing. They said tickets were going well. Although that is always said.
Feels like something else we don't know yet. Maybe it's money related. They wanted PPV but dropped that.

I can’t see how it could be down to money. Both signed for the fight, would have contracts confirming the amounts they were getting, held interviews about the fight and they did the press conference.
I think it’s an injury, not a bad one and they’re waiting for more info and a backup plan before making any kind of announcement.

I expect most tickets will be sold from up the Rhondda rather than the lower valleys of Caerphilly/Newport etc. Williams is from the close knit upper Rhondda valley community ... I don't see them holding onto their tickets if Williams isn't fighting.
We are abroad until Monday - will give it then to see about getting refunds.

Williams was the one chasing this fight; I don't see him calling it off unless it's a serious injury.
That said; if it was Eubank Jr pulling out we'd all be questioning his bottle .. so Williams can expect the same I guess.
What options does Eubank Jr have now though?

Or he has signed to Matchroom.
