Deary me. He’s the A side? He’s talking like he’s got another AJ on his hands. The last crop of Olympians compared to the previous 3 or 4 cycles are piss poor from a PR point of view.

He’s the challenger.

This is comically bad damage limitation here. Talking out his arse and nobody is believing it. Not a good look as a relative newbie on the scene.

1. Clarke is not the A side at this stage.
2. If he would beat Wardley I'm his first fight then why not in his sixth?
3. It's purse bids. You win the bid and you get to dictate terms.
4. He has to increase from 6 rounders at some stage, if he's so good then Wardley would be easy work for a 10/12 rounder.
258 management gurus have a hand in this and are so far totally absent from the discussion .
They wanted clarke to be given the mando in the first place and lobbied the board to get it .
Front up you set of clowns !
All these new fancy management companies, ‘258’, ‘S Jam’ etc are all completely useless. They don’t know the first thing about boxing.

Also Clarke has boxed 6 full rounds before. Wardley’s never got that far.

Good point Mav, it is a level field really and even more reason to believe Clarke's team bottled it, because all Ben has to say is bollocks.

Clarke must be fuming, it just looks like they've bottled it. The reasons Shalom has given are ridiculous.

So Basically Clarke would beat him in his first fight but isn't ready until he's had an 8 and a 10 rounder  he doesn't want to throw any one under a bus but throws 258 under the bus.

2--- Turn pro

3 turn pro ,--- hire a good cutman for the night ,, if cut pay for a top plastic surgeon if needed .

Guys got to earn a living , he's not getting younger , he needs these fights NOW

And it’s all of their own making which is the crazy thing. They asked for the fight. If they hadn’t then they could easily say ‘we’re going in another direction’ and we’d be disappointed but be ok with it.

They’ve properly done Clarke over here but he also should have forced it to happen.

Sounds like his management team and Slalom don't communicate which is bizarre in itself

Bang on, but for me that means that they will serve him eastern euro puddings for continental titles before cashing out with a big fight.
Maybe they would take Gorman for a British title, but it shows they have little faith in their man.

Never been imnpressed with Shalom, and that interview illustrates why. Amateur hour.

How did he get such a leg up to be fronting on sky as their exclusive boxing promoter. If we actually had a decent boxing journo in this country we might have more of a clue.

Exactly right.

Does this raise questions about 258 MGT’s competency? They recently lost Okolie and Buatsi as clients and now they are seemingly pushing Clarke into the relative deep-end contrary to his promoter’s wishes. Very strange.

Also, were the BBBoC correct in granting the mandatory position to Clarke when he’s only had so few fights and rounds and has only ever been in 6 round scheduled fights? I’m surprised David Adeleye was originally overlooked in favour of Clarke.

Big vacuum after Eddie left Sky for DAZN, and it seems Shalom is the first ball of fluff to be sucked into the void and Sky went with it.
He has put on some reasonable matches, but unfortunately also some dire cards.

Someone needs to ask Shalom why he waited until the last minute.

Even if his excuses were valid (they aren’t) he could have saved everyone a lot of trouble by withdrawing when he first decided it wasn’t happening.

First thing I said in my comment that got deleted. I know he ain’t gonna bother answering a nobody like me btw but no need for my comments to be deleted unless I’m being abusive.

Wardley has put out clips of a member of 258 saying a while back they asked for Clarke to be made mandatory and also Robert Smith being asked why Clarke was made mandatory and he said Clarke’s managers asked for him to be considered and put forward a case why he should be and the board accepted those reasons and made him mandatory. This was in reply to Shalom saying ‘I don’t know why he was made mandatory?’

DDD is in negotiations for Usyk and if they can’t get a deal finalised then there will be purse bids for it.

He’s position is a few levels ahead of Wardley at the moment.
Ddd is ahead for sure in positioni mg. But I’m not sure he wants to get in with usyk unless it’s huge cash.

WBA reg/ brittish title with wardly with frank vs Ed could be cool. Wardly would be DDDs best win ever so it’s not like he is miles ahead….

It does raise questions about 258 I think. Certainly the way they’ve been communicating with Shalom. I’d imagine the boxer has a closer relationship with his management team than the promoter so id imagine Clarke wanted the fight ordered too.

Shalom’s probably not helping things with his interviews. Saying he has no idea why purse bids were ordered (yet the board and 258 said that team Clarke asked for it) and that it’s stupidity that purse bids were ordered.

If they have an issue with the principal of purse bids then they should have removed Clarke as soon as they were ordered. Wouldn’t have caused the same level of fuss and they could have still tried to make it for September in the background.

I don’t think I would have made Clarke mandatory if I was in the BBBC’s position but there isn’t loads in it between him, Dacres and Adeleye. Adeleye has had more fights but the only guy recognisable on his record is Sokolowski where he was lucky to get the win.

Perhaps the fact that Clarke’s team campaigned for it was enough to put him over the other two.

I’d like the Adeleye fight to be ordered now. Would be a fun one.

Strangely I quite liked Shalom initially. He was saying the right things (looking at ways to improve judging, saying about wanting to work with all promoters to help with putting on the big fights, wanting to focus on the fighters and not get involved with promoter back and fourth).

I now like him less than the other main guys (Eddie and FWarren) because at they’re not trying to be something they aren’t. They openly spin things and we know that part of what they have to say should be taken with a punch of salt. They’re promoters and that’s what they all do.

Shalom comes across as disingenuous. In one sentence he’ll say he doesn’t want to get involved with talk about rival promoters and his next sentence will be dig at one of them. At least Eddie and Frank will openly be pricks about the competition and not apologise for it.

Boxxer saying they tried to make the fight versus them saying Fraser needs more rounds. Clearly contradicting themselves. But Matchroom also making out they never protect fighters is also spin. Promoters argy bargy, it’s all good.

There’s no guarantee that Clarke would go 10 rounds in his next fight anyway, I’d get that argument if they said he needed another 10 fights but they are only talking one more fight which could easily end quickly. Unless he carries his opponent. I’m sure Clarke gets tougher sparring than he does in his pro fights.
