Yes. A sport needs to have fair officiating.

No, as long as the boxers I'm a fan of are the ones favored by the officials.

The outrage has nothing to do with Kovalev being Russian and Ward being American. It has everything to do with a better exciting fighter, a champion, being robbed in favor of a boring dirty fighter.

There isn't anybody as dirty and boring as Ward among top fighters, but if let's say Errol Spence was robbed in favor of an opponent like Ward, I would also be outraged.
The Ward-Kovalev decision wasnt even the worst decision of the night. There are worse decisions EVERY WEEK than that one, and we have guys threatening to quit watching the sport over it?! Did I think Kovalev won? Yes I had him winning 114-113. Doesnt even make the list of the top 500 robberies I've seen in boxing.
List any in the last 10 years where a holder of 3 major belts would be robbed.

Exactly. 3 belt holders are extremely rare. In order to become one, one has to CLEARLY beat one, not have rounds gifted to you.

Drop this "poo" and discuss what instead? That was a top 5 fight of the year importance wise.

This cliche is so dumb. The judges score a round like it's any other round. They don't score it based on "hmmm this guy has 3 belts!!!" Ward hasn't lost a fight since he was 12 years old. Does that mean he gets special privilege over a 3 belt holder?

If you think that was a robbery you haven't seen anything tbh.

I was completely neutral, UK based, if anything I preferred Kovalev as a fighter going into that fight. For me you could not argue with a point either way and Ward won the second half of the fight.

I thought the result was just fair.

Seriously though, learning to recognise your own bias will help you to have better discussions. The poll is completely retarded. Like who doesn't want fair judging... It is also ironic as you 100% fit in the category of people who want results for their own favourite fighters if you think that was a robbery lol.

And like you obviously have bias lololol, holy fornicate some people.

Listen you want to see actual robberies?

Here are some real ones for you to watch:

McDonnell vs Solis

http://boxrec.com/media/index.php?title=Fight:2112586

Burns vs Beltran

http://boxrec.com/media/index.php?title=Fight:1813242

Maccarenelli vs McPhilbin

http://boxrec.com/media/index.php?title=Fight:1665990

(They literally ended the first round 51 seconds early to stop Maccarinellu from being knocked out, unbelievable, youtube it)

Seriously I watch every fight in the UK and the US and you guys from the US have got it ok over there, don't get me wrong I have seen decisions I think are dodgy are not right in the US, but boxing corruption is literally part of the UK scene. Like some fighters cannot lose fights unless they are about to get killed by the other guy, its just how it is here as promoters want to keep their prospects zero until a big money world title fight comes up, even if that guy is doesn't quite get to world level after showing potential. It is more about the fighters brand, then his actual ability a lot of the time and for some reason a loss on a prospects record in this country usually means he is old news to the promoters and wont get the chances or the big money fights made for them. Pretty sad and has been very damaging to our fighters over the years, the reason why we have very few fighters who actually make it to world elite.

My bad, keep saying the same shit in response to the same shit for the rest of your life. :TU:

Definitely drop the 3 belt point, that's EO level stupid.

Exactly. Case in point Brook vs Porter on American soil. Brook was treated fairly in a really close fight. Frampton vs Santa Cruz on American soil. Same thing. Would the same happen in reverse? Rhetorical question.

It's not really the judging is it, it's more the referee.
At least that's the main beef from the Kovalev lot.

Some of you need to rewatch the first fight. Kovalev initiated a lot of inside clinching. He tied Ward up a lot in close quarters in an effort to stop Andre's inside game knowing Andre is better on the inside and Kov'a advantage is from range. The narrative that Ward did the mugging is incredibly misguided. It was basically 50-50.

Erm, maybe in the first couple of rounds he tied Ward up but he was mainly trying to box him. Later on, say at least half the fight Ward would disengage, back peddle, back peddle, then would explosively lunge in with the interntion of grabbing, holding and when he had his man tied would unleash weird smouthered short punches then rinse and repeat when you would ordinarily hear a break being called or a stop holding. Frankly, i found it disgusting. Thats my biggest gripe about this fight, obviously the decision was annoying but worse still was the manner in which Ward fought. Disengage, tie up and push punch, not my cup of tea. We know Ward is a very competent boxer, it was on display against Alexander Brand, don't laugh, but still he showed how well he could box. He didn't have the confidence to box in this fight, he was outmatched which resulted in him turning the fight into an ugly affair for fans of fist fighting.

Their main beef is the judging -- which was a flat out robbery.. But also of concern was Robert Byrd.. He allowed Ward to foul away like crazy.

Ward's "inside game" Kovalev was trying to avoid is head butts. That's why Kovalev was often using his arms to tie Ward instead of punching him. Hopefully, he finds a better way this time.

Ward displaying his boxing abilities against Brand? Sounds like Garcia displaying boxing abilities against Salka. You can only display your real abilities against fighters of your level and your size.

I watched the fight, for the 4th time, laying in bed last night. Scored it the same, again, 6 rounds apiece, 114-113 Kovalev. Gave Ward 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12. 5 and 10 were close but I didnt give him either round. I can see how someone would give him 1 of those rounds, hence the decision. 5, 6, 10 were EXTREMELY difficult to score. Those 3 rounds decided the fight. IMO the other 9 rounds were not as hard to score.
