Liston Like Jab wrote: 06 Jun 2021, 19:31 If you were Floyd Mayweather and you wanted to earn some serious money, if you want every single person on a planet to watch the rematch, you would lose this fight tonight. It's an exhibition so it doesn't go against your record and there is no price that could be put on the re match.
Na cause that dints your legacy and effects every thing he markets himself for going forward. If money may wants money he needs to show vunrability, get hit, not dominate and then horrifically KO Logan.

Then you set up the revenge fight with Jake Paul who is a bit better, and you make that fight a pro bout , that way with Floyd’s shown vunrability it’s viewed as a competitive fight so:
-floyd haters tune in for the chance for him to lose his 0.
- with the heavy KO Jake Paul haters get a bit hard thinking about the possibility of it happening to him.
- boxing fans say they don’t care but as it gets closer curiosity creeps in...
Eww, it's a sick plot indeed :o
Plausible, Floyd hasn't done anything positive for boxing. Just fleecing the feeble.

I honestly don’t think there’s a plot, I think they just fight. Floyd might observe for a while, whitch could be seen as carrying it rounds, but honestly as confident as he will be and should be he still isn’t going to want to risk getting hit clean by a 200+lb guy, and I think even floyd will know he can’t put all his stock into his lighting reflexes because time is a thing, and sitting in strip clubs all night dosent keep ya sharp.

The interesting part is the clinches, cause if the reg allows and clinches happen Logan can make it a real shit time for a little old mayweather.

The magic of Floyd is gone now. They both looked crap. If Floyd keeps playing around in boxing he’s going to get a bad beating off someone.

Forgot this was on, but I'm surprised Floyd couldn't get the win. Must be quite embarrassing for Conor McGregor.

It’s clear to see that Floyds not got a Hopkins like renaissance coming soon. He’s declined massively as with 99.99% of fighters at his age. He should pack it in completely now.

Unless he keeps blowing his dough he’s no reason to.

Perhaps it was the fact that there was more crowd, this though seems to have got more criticism than Tyson vs Jones Jnr - which was pretty very similar really.

Seen both fights on youtube after - both were sparring session. Floyd was exactly what he was a 44 year old, half trained ex fighter going easy and showcasing defensive skills against a novice who has some athletic ability. Infact I thought his legs and reflexes looked pretty good. If Floyd really wanted to box properly and did a hard camp, some of the movement looked good enough to beat many a decent fighter - I would make Floyd favourite against any domestic 147 fighter as an example still.

Logan is a novice who was quite physically fit who has learnt to hold. How would he fair in a a "proper" fight against a guy his own weight would be interesting, but not really something I would particularly want to see. He showed half decent stamina and clear he has done some sparring, but an area level heavyweight in a proper fight would offer a different prospect than a 155lber in an exhibition with big gloves, no judges etc.

I found Tyson vs Jones quite sad, two all time greats - one of them had impressive boobies and the other in his black shorts seemingly trying to recreate something, it was a bit sad really. I think all three of the ex pros showcased skills that showed the world what once made them great. Some of Roy's work in defence was still something young fighters could learn from. Tyson was at least trying to make a show of it and Floyd still showed he has reflexes and legs - albeit against a complete novice.

Hope this exhibition fad will come to an end though.

he lost his only pro fight, to a 0-0 youtuber he outweighed. an area level heavyweight would crush him

despite the ripped muscular physique he's been exhausted after 2 rounds in all his fights too

I don't want to see him fight again, but I don't think we can really judge that half trained version of Floyd in an exhibition. Unlike Hopkins he didn't do a camp and he didn't really try. I actually thought his legs looked alright - but it is impossible to tell really.

I remember when Khan first turned over - Channel 5 did a documentary on him (he might have still been amateur but it was certainly post Athens) - and there was a segment where he did some very light sparring with some fairly green amateurs - he didn't throw a punch, but he also toyed with them. This "fight" reminded me of those spars.

To be fair to him - he really should have beaten KSI the referee was pretty poor. But yes I agree a fighter with some ambition - even if limited skill set and size is an entirely different prospect to a 155lber in an exhibition. Floyd could have had Logan out of there pretty much at any time, but he probably would have apologised after.

It will never get sanctioned, but I agree in principle - had enough of exhibitions now. I didn't pay for either, but those fans that did (and for Tyson vs Jones) must feel getting fleeced. I would rather pay to hear after dinner speeches from Tyson, Jones and Mayweather really.

At least Jake Paul has had proper fights as was KSI vs Logan Paul - in which both guys at least wanted to win.

Do you reckon a younger, more aggressive 140-147lb fighter (i.e. someone who walks around at 155lbs like Mayweather does) could KO him, or does the size difference make that to difficult?

Depends on the level - but in a proper fight I think Floyd would have knocked him out or at least stopped him - so yes.

Weirdly I just saw the whole fight free on Sky Youtube from 11.30. Like 6 hours after the PPV.

Anyway my thoughts:
- uninspiring exhibition as a whole Paul looked enormous with long arms
- Logan landed some half decent jabs and shots but its a sparring session really
- Adam Smith is a terrible commentator. Just chooses a fighter, ignores the other one, has no idea how to read a fight. Great to see Barry Jones put Smith right again and again and not just agree with him. Jones CAN read a fight and doesn't miss shots
- I genuinely think Jake Paul has a chance against this ageing Floyd. He is so much sharper, quicker, accurate and harder hitting than his brother.. He is the same weight as well.

People can moan bout how its a disgrace to boxing and blah blah but how can you blame either guy for getting 10s of millions if people are prepared to pay for that.

As a long term serious boxing fan its demoralising however..... we get this not Johsua - Fury......
