Nothing from either promotional camp to suggest the fight won’t happen. Im convinced the new date will be announced imminently and the fight goes ahead, as mooted, Feb 2024.

I don't get this excuse of waving away Fury's troubles because of Ngannou size and power.

The whole purpose of martial arts is that a skilled practitioner can overcome an unskilled one even if they are significantly larger.

So if we run this argument of novice Ngannou's size and strength causing problems for a 6'9" world champion boxer, fighting under boxing rules, to its obvious conclusion... Then we are saying Boxing is the most pathetic and pointless martial art in existence.

It kind seems like the more obvious conclusion to draw is not that boxing is a complete waste of time, but that Fury is on a very steep decline

I think accuracy has a part to play in this. Also, how will Fury's punch resistance and mental focus be.

After the abuse and neglect Fury has subjected his body to the last few years, if he tried to do the serious training he will need to do to beat Usyk in February then he would likely pick up injuries.

So that gives two potential possibilities.
Fury either goes into the February fight with more significant injuries he would typically take into a fight.
Or he tries to moderate his training and comes in slightly less flabbier than normal and Usyk has a gassed Fury to tee off on as Fury dives trying to grab as he did against Ngannou.

Fury has never been a big puncher, and whilst Usyk is not one either, I'd argue Usyk will hit easily as hard as that glancing punch Ngannou put Fury over with.

All quiet on the western front.

George Groves thinks Fury will retire/duck the Uysk encounter. He made the point on Talksport that even with contracts signed, and a date and venue booked, the fight on the 23rd December won't happen.

If he does retire, the last memory of Fury will be of him sitting on the canvas with startled eyes whilst boxing debutant Ngannou stood over him dancing, mocking him. That would be a sad note to finish one's boxing career.

Presumably he doesn’t need the money, so perhaps he will just retire and accuse Usyk of ruining it somehow for eternity. I think he has a fairly overwhelming feeling he’s going to get stood on his head, to quote the late Brendan Ingle.
