Bunce tends to make statements, usually tapping his nose! But rarely engaged.

I disagree they both came across as know it all bullies who would get irate if someone challenged their professional opinion. Bellew ringing up a poster threatening him with said poster ultimately proved right was a low even for him.

I liked boxers like Billy Bessey and Tony Dodson who’d post here and give open and honest answers to questions. Billy’s with regards to actually being in the ring was superb and I had nothing but admiration for Tony when he told us all he was going to beat Froch, how he’d spotted he way to do it etc and then when he lost came on here to say fair play he was beaten by the better man that night.

There’s been some *****s on this forum, at times I was one of them & for that I apologise.

Paul Smith as mentioned is a good guy as is Tony Bellew, Tony Dodson & loads of other boxing personalities that have frequented this place - I am going to go out of my way to get some of them back too.

But back to Bunce ... if boxing lost him it would be a far poorer place ... trust me on that.

Yes not everyones cup of tea & sometimes I find myself screaming at him when hes on the tv in disagreement.

But Bunces passion for the sport & the way he grafts is second to none.

A lot of the boxers who fucked off, weren't "run off" the forum, it's because they had shite attitudes when it came to dealing with criticism and got aggressive towards other posters just because they dared to share their opinion. They'd come out with the ol' shite about how "you've never boxed, you're opinion means nothing" I've never played professional football either but I can tell you now that Alberto Moreno is shite but I can't imagine him coming on here saying he'll sort me out.

Sure there were dickheads like Lirva who would go out of their way to be a prick to them but nearly all the criticism they got was truthful even if it was harsh.

I like Bunce. Knows his stuff. Never really understood the hate. I can understand people not liking his style but thats like all presenters. You wont please everyone.

I don’t hate him, and can tolerate him sometimes but found him to be arrogant and frankly lacking in manners in real life.

On TV he comes across as boorish and talks too much.

He has tried to ‘build’ himself as a boxing character - Hawaiian shirts, using silly catchphrases like ‘Adios’ when he signs off and overusing the phrase ‘trust me’.

He has partially succeeded, but comes across as rather lightweight and contrived in his approach.

He just appears like a fat, balding, sweating, excitable, high pitched hog. He knows boxing but is a bit of a blowhard.

Also stay away from him if he has a biro in his hand....

The bit about Hawaiian shirts and catch phrases is spot on

Hate is too strong, but I think those posters who were around at the time found him hard to take seriously when he was looking for support on the forum (and received plenty), but then subsequently spent a fair amount of time deriding and running down those same posters.
That hypocritical attitude also displayed itself when he made a huge deal of 'telling it like it is' and then of course took the allegedly role which obviously compromised that stance massively.
I certainly don't hate Bunce, but I do find his public persona a bit tiresome and feel there are far more impressive pundits out there who are more articulate and insightful, and, of course, display far less histrionics.

I like him as a pundit when he is not talking shit but he does seem to think he better that alot of boxing fans

It seems to be borne out of the same strange attitude that any active boxer who posts on the forum should be treated like a demi-god and be beyond reproach. I'm completely with others in that they can add a huge amount of value with their insights etc, but if they start threatening people who disagree with them or just disparaging anyone else's opinion then I"m more than happy for them to disappear in all honesty.
For me, Coco's a great example of someone who I'll always enjoy hearing from as he's been there and done it, but you'll never catch him playing either of those cards... and I respect him all the more for it. I don't think Jeff Thomas posts here any more, but he was always good value as well.
Where I'm completely with others is when the trolls get stuck in e.g. Billy Nelson can be a bit temperamental at times, but the forum is definitely a better place for having him on it, and some of the comments directed at him have been out of order. However, that's been a distinct minority and I think the vast majority of posters treat him with respect.
